Coop 95% completed!

Thanks for the nice replys on the coop! I would be happy to get eggs in any of the boxes, unfortunately since the girls are only 12 weeks old I think it is going to be a long wait!

Nice job.. Can you elaborate on the roost system you have there? The screen does not drop direct to the ground right? I have to assume it does not because of heat loss in the winter, so what do you have designed for a clean out?

Thanks! DH did a great job building it. The "poop pit" was built with a door that opens to the outside of the coop. I can lift up the screen and stir the wood chips in the pit several times a week. When the wood chips need changing I just open the door and scrape them out and off to the compost pile. The door is screwed shut to prevent any predators from getting in. We painted the inside of the pit to make cleaning easier and also put the same rubber floor tiles on the bottom to prevent moisture from soaking into the wood.
