OMG!

That is one of the nicest coops I have seen on here and I have been around this place a while.
You guys are the bomb! The design, colors and details are fantastic. I am sure you and the family will enjoy it for years to come.

janieschicks,
The blue is called "out to sea" Color place paint from Wal-Mart. The red is a dutchboy color. we dont have the card anymore, and we have to do a color match when we want more. It's a kinda brick red stuff...

All the coop colors match what is on our house.

I've been checking the progress of this totally fine coop. I do want to recommend one thing--round and smooth the edges of their roost a bit. This way they are less likely to cramp their toes if they get them past the edge. The rest--fabulous!

You or your daughter shouldn't really have to 'touch the chickens' to gather eggs, unless you've got a broody that's sitting on a few. However, if you're really set on a rollaway nest box, Opa has a great design that he's posted about. I'll see if I can search up a link for you...

Edit:

Here is Opa's latest thread on rollaway nest boxes. He does great work.

very little work done tonight as I had a mowing emergency. First cut of the season always takes the longest. Set Rowan (our daughter) to doing more trim painting. Put a spring on the big heavy door so it would go closed again on its own rather than swinging open and knocking some poor soul out. More pictures later after a bit more work.
