Last night I put a super heavy spring on my super heavy door so it will shut on it's own for when someone (Daughter Rowan) forgets to shut the door.
I haven't posted any pictures of the side with the egg boxes.. so here it is. In this picture you can see the supports for where the external egg boxes will go. The pilot holes drilled near the bottom of the coop on either side of the egg box supports will be where the poop board access doors will be. I plan to put those on tonight. The idea is for the poop trays to run the width of the coop under the roosts. You open the doors and slide out the poop boards, they will have swing down legs that will make them into a little table that you slide the wheel barrow under. Then scoop the shavings into the wheel barrow. There will also be a stone patio under the egg boxes to keep our feets out of the mud for when we spray out the coop.
The wifey and Rowan have been taking the girls out to the coop for day trips so they can get used to the idea of it. I think they suffer from agoraphobia. They don't seem to enjoy the wide open spaces yet, and still haven't gone up into the coop on their own. I will put one of them up there and they cry for the others. I wouldn't think such little birds could make that much noise.
More pics tomorrow after I get some more trim on, and will show you the back of the coop.
I've gotten several PM's asking for copies of my coop plans. I will have to take some time and draw them up, as it's all in my noggin at the moment. Which made it difficult for anyone to help me on the coop, because I was the only one who knew what it was going to look like. LOL.

Just my humble opinion, but you may want to reconsider the spring-loaded door. My hens can be pretty persistant about getting out of the run when I open the door, and if the door slammed shut, I'm afraid they'd get decapitated - or their neck broken...

Ya know Mike... I might just re think that. Might just be easier to train the humans than teach the chicks to be wary of the door...
