so you can’t use the camera unless you have prime? You have to sign into your amazon account in order to use the camera. And you have to get their app.
I'm not sure if it requires a subscription.

You don't have to have prime, just a account with amazon (as far as I know. I never bothered set the thing up since I didn't want to have to deal with any accounts).so you can’t use the camera unless you have prime?
I was wondering what camera would be best. I want one that connects to my phone, has good night vision, under $50 (preferably), and if this isn’t too much to ask (I don’t know anything about outdoor cameras) one that records continuously without a subscription. I’m thinking one that has an sd card?? Thanks!
That looks pretty good. I wouldn’t mind something that only records 24 hours. The only reason I want it to record is in case something happens and I need to look. 24 hours is plenty of time to go back and check on something that recently happened. But that one plugs in. I wish I had power in the coopWe use REOLINK Lumus. They've performed well even in 115F temps. Connects to phones, tablets, desktop computers. When I'm working at my desk I just keep it open in a window on my screen so I can keep an eye on the chickens. There's a spotlight you can turn on at night but night vision is good without it, too. It has two-way talk and you can zoom in. You can go back 24 hours at any time, sometimes the playback glitches a little. No subscription, just use a microSD card up to 256GB.
$50 + 20% off coupon at Amazon.

Yeah, but I can’t run a cord. That’s exactly why I want that!!We don't have power in the coop, either. We run an outdoor extension cord to the camera from a nearby shed which is the closest power source (it also powers several coop fans). We put it in a waterproof extension cord connector box. That has survived monsoon storms and even a tornado so it's worked well.
I love the playback function. We've used it to answer questions like "How in the world did that get knocked over?" and to figure out who is laying eggs outside the nest boxes, and to review animal activity outside the coop at night (squirrels, mice, neighborhood cats, etc.).
Thank you!!!Tapo Solar Cam is what you want -- it does require a subscription if you want to SAVE recordings, but I do believe it will record 24 hrs just on its own. I don't know because I always sign up for accounts/subscriptions because having that on hand is *just too useful* just in case. I'd want it rather than not.
It needs wifi for you to be able to view it -- but it works over 100 feet away from my house, its out in my pasture. My wifi signal is decent.
I have 2 of these things and I love them so far. I have probably 11 or 12 Google Nest cameras as well, but those are just on all my floodlights, so wired to the house. Those are fantastic too - but an entirely different thing.
I love the Tapo ones!
Was just checking and it does record via MicroSD, up to 512gb!
