I've never seen any healthy chicken actually drool, but mine are already panting from the heat. It was 89* in the shade here yesterday. I agree you need ventilation in the coop, especially if your new birds are scared to go down in the run right now. From the photo you posted, it looks like you don't have any vents or windows. The hot air in the coop can't escape.
Is the whole coop going to sit inside a bigger run or do you plan to just add run space to the bottom section? If the whole coop is in a larger secured run, you can open all the doors to let air circulate. If not, you need to cut some windows in the front and back walls for ventilation. Then cover them with wire for security.
Search the forums for "how much ventilation is enough" for a good article on air circulation in the coop.
 
Laura, I'm a newbie at this and just making plans for a coop and run. A topic of discussion on many threads is ventilation. Chickens need lots of fresh air in their coops. This coop looks like it doesn't have any but looks can be deceiving.
