Seeing this answers a few of my previous questions. 3 hens - perfect. Maybe put a removable 2x3 or 2x4 wide side up across that upper area so they have something to sit on. You don't want them roosting on top of their bedding - they will poop A LOT at night and it's better if it falls below them. It'll be much easier to clean as well. A 2x3 or 2x4 wide side up will be much easier for them to roost on so they aren't clinging to a small edge of plywood (as your one hen is doing in the photo). It'll be much more comfortable for the girls to sit on a 2x3 or 2x4 board and lower their feathered bodies over their feet to keep warm at night than to cling and try to balance on that plywood edge. Hope you don't mind the suggestions. I've modified my coop 4-5 times since I've built it based on suggestions here on BYC. Now I'm plotting/planning a much larger coop because chicken math has struck.
