whats the name of the product you used. I have never heard of Lowes so I don't think we have them here in Australia but if I know the name of the product I might be able to speak to a hardware store here and find something similar.

Thanks everyone

I went to Lowes this weekend and they had a roll (about 6ft) worth of linoleum marked clearance for $8 in a little bin back near the rolls of outdoor carpet.. Thats what we will use for our coop floor!!

You were asking about bedding at some point there. I did read that hay or straw will release bacteria spores into the air if it gets damp, and I know it molds much easier/faster than shavings. I like to use a thick layer of shavings and I routinely mix some cracked corn into it. The cracked corn makes the birds scratch around in it, thus constantly turning it and preventing "caking".

I bought linoleum floor covering at Lowe's, got the cheapest one they had. Afterall it was just for a chicken coop, right? Still cost me about 70 bucks. Didn't last long at all before it either got brittle or the chickens were able to tear it up. Once Spring gets here I plan on ripping it out and replacing with something a little more durable. I do have several pieces of rubberized roof underlayment that is tough stuff that may go down in it's place. Anyone else have similar problems with linoleum flooring?

We cleaned the coop out yesterday, the bedding was 11 months old

It initially had 6 bales of shavings in there (I think those are 5 cubic feet?). The litter was about....I'd say 6-10" deep, depending on how they had scratched. Not much odor at all, a lot nicer than mucking horse stalls

I used a 4 tine pitch fork for most of it, and a shovel for the rest. It cleaned out pretty well, other than a LOT - I think 7 wheelbarrows worth (my wheelbarrow is 8cuft). The floor is painted wood on a concrete slab, but it was all dry, no wet spots at all, which pleased me. I have 14 chickens in there, and it's a 10'x10' area.

The old litter was nicely broken down, and all went into the garden to rest for a few months until I till it down and plant

To Nae Nae, our Lowes in the States is like Bunnings in Australia, if that helps you. My husband is Australian and I know about the Bunnings home and garden type stores over there. They just built a new one near the area from where he comes and all my in-laws live, near Nelson Bay...Port Stephens area of NSW, couple hours drive north of Sydney. I can't wait to get back for hoilday to check the new store out! Hope this helps you
