Coop Flooring

My coop is similar size 4x8 raised. Had planned to do a sheet of linoleum. Never got to it. It turns out that just using pine shavings has worked. We also have poop boards. In 1.5 years we have cleaned all the shavings twice. Will do it again in the next month. The floor of the coop is completely dry and has very little poop. So, paint or lino would have helped preserve the floor, but I think at this rate it will last a very long time.

Thank you for your responses. I had planned to put shavings on top of the interlocking mats but all your responses are very valid! I like the maintenance aspect of vinyl flooring but don't look forward to the glue down process. The HDPE is a great idea and I will explore pricing options. The BlackJack 57 is another great idea, low maintenance, water proof, cost effective and self-sealing.....overall the only downside is the off gases during the long curing time.

I knew I would find expert advice and multiple options from the members of this site. I greatly appreciate your time and input. Hugs to the Backyard Chicken family!

You do not have to glue the vinyl down. Tack it down on the 4 corners and that's all that is needed. It won't move!

I’d go to your hardware store or wherever they sell paint and ask them what they recommend, any exterior paint will make cleaning easier :)
