Coop interior... to paint or not to paint?

I painted the inside of my first coop.
My second coop I only painted the floor with the glossy paint.
Don't forget to get your paint cheap by buying the mis-tinted paints.

Also painting the inside of our new coop. Mostly to hopefully prevent poop from sticking to everything. Plus I’m having fun with colors. Next up are the toys, a 4’ vintage wooden ladder for purching and a couple of small mirrors. We are staining the outside of the coop a blue/gray white wash and put flat pavers all around to keep predators and egg thiefs away.

I used hydrated lime to make white wash and used it to paint the inside of my coop. Some scientific studies confirm that this deters some bugs due to it's caustic nature.

The mixture is extremely easy to apply and renew as well as being very inexpensive.

Such awesome ideas! I always wondered if painting inside would ever help with bugs and mites? When I redo mine, I was thinking about putting a vinyl "flooring" down ( looks like a rug that comes on a roll) to help with cleaning and keep the poop at bay. Took forever but found "barn" at Walmart of all places!

That is extremely helpful, thank you!
