I have heard that artificial lighting can increase egg production, but I have also heard that they need some "down time" to rest. How long should I set my timer for?

I set mine to come on at 6am cuz that's when I get up and go off at 8am, on at 4:30pm and off at 6:30pm. They're laying well.

I just have mine go on once a day, around 3:30 AM. That way they go to sleep naturally. It gets dark around 6:30 PM so they get 15 hours of light. Been doing this about a week and it has not increased production so far. But most of the layers are 3 years old. I'm going to leave it like this til it gets warmer, March or April, and see how it goes then.
