Thank you

I really do love my coop. I wasn't sure if I would after we got started, but now that I see it coming together, I'm very pleased. I will be even more pleased when all the fencing is up and I'm done! (Can you even be done?)

I haven't given up the idea of painting it inside yet, lol so no worries about mentioning it. After 4 straight days of working on it in hot temps I was pretty burnt out on the whole thing (haven't even been outside to see it since Sunday, lol) but I am heading to Home Depot to buy paint for my demolished laundry room (brooded all the chicks in there this spring) so I might just pick up a paint of bright white or something.

The T-posts are 9ft and the fence is 8ft. We are covering it with bird netting before putting the girls in there. The permanent fence will be 8ft also, solid wood.

My daughter's friend wants to paint a mural on the side of it in an Italian/chicken theme. The name of the coop is Castello di Pollo Coop (we lived in Italy for awhile). I will probably let him once I get tired of the color

And thank you for all the kind words. I am so pleased with how it turned out and cannot wait to till the girls move in on Saturday. I'll post more pics

I've been telling them all week about how fabulous it will be. All they do is yell at me to "hurry up"!

Well, yesterday was finally moving day for my big and little girls

I thought I'd share the final photos.

The girls love their new coop and yard, but we are all experiencing a little moving stress. I am trying to get in a new routine since the coop is so much different than my old one. I have to go through the garage right now to get into the runs and all my chicken feed, scratch etc is still near the old coop. Plus the hose is not as convenient right now, but all that will be fixed over the summer. The girls do not like using their ramps and had to be physically put inside last night. Now today, they are eating their eggs. Probably going to take a few days for us all to adjust.

Covering the runs was a bit stressful too but once we got the netting straightened out, it went fairly quickly. I feel better knowing they will not be flying out and nothing will be swooping into get them. I will be also be very happy when the permanent fencing is up so I know they are more protected during the day too.

Overall though, I am just thrilled with how the coop turned out. It is exactly what I wanted and even with all the stress, the girls seem happy. They have found a favorite spot to dig and bathe in and love all the sun they have now. I love having the separated runs for the smaller girls. I did try and mix them last night, thinking that it would be the perfect time since it was new to everyone. They did ok, just the normal pecking order stuff and seemed to be ok in the coop overnight, but I could tell the little girls were scared this morning. They wouldn't come out of the coop so I moved them to their separate spot and run. They are much happier today.

All is good in my chicken world this Memorial Day weekend

Where's that little green smiley of envy? That is just gawjus! I love your chicken tv spot and that the coop is separated for growing up chickies and the big girls too. This is exactly what I'm asking of my DH. We have the two separate pens in the works, but the coop itself will need to be divided just like yours and I think I'm going to show him your photos.
