Coop on or off ground

My coop is on a slope. It is raised just over a foot on the low side, to nearly 2' on the other side. It is set on a base on leveled concrete blocks, dug into the ground sitting on a gravel base.
If you are going to raise it, raise it. A couple of inches is not a good idea. Rodents, and other pests will burrow under there, and set up shop. You do not want that. You need to be able to see under there, to monitor what's going on. Also, if you are raising it, you have to get it high enough, so if one of your chickens goes under there and lays a pile of eggs, you can get them out. Some of them like to squeeze under and into a tight area, to lay eggs. I had one, (Or more) squeezing under my nest boxes in a space that wasn't even 6" high, dumped a pile of eggs under there. I had to block it off. If you plan on raising the coop, which IMO with a wood floor, you should. Get it up a over a foot at least.
