Right now I'm keeping my quail (coturnix) in rabbit hutches. I was thinking I might buy a small chicken coop with a little run for them but was wondering about the ins and outs...literally. Would they even bother going up some stairs/ramp to get inside a coop if there's an outside available? I'd like to give them access to the ground for grass/bugs/sand/dirt purposes and am debating between a structure that's all ground-dwelling vs one that has a ramp to the "inside" area. Any thoughts or insight is greatly appreciated.

I should also add that I've been fighting rats and they've done a number on the hutch they're currently in. I've reinforced it so that they no longer get in but the poor girls look like they're in jail now. Coop switch needs to happen asap.
