Opinions / Experience with the following.

T1-11.

I believe you have to paint SP. I think you're supposed to paint T-111, but you don't have to. I don't know anything about FP. I considered using SP, but decided otherwise because I wanted to be able to move bldg, and figured that it would flex and crack SP.

Update: I apologize. I was thinking strand panel was something different. I can't remember the name of what I was thinking about, but it's a concrete fiber board.

Also you have to drill all nail/screw holes in SP. Nailing the stuff is touchy; screwing is best, which adds cost. T-111 can be nailed without the hassle; simple.

I've used t-111 for a few things. Good stuff, getting kinda expensive.(But, what ain't?) I used SmartSide panels for my coop. The stuff I used, has this old barnwood look. When I built the coop, I bought the 4X8' sheets for under $19 a piece. They have definitely gone up from when I bought them. Once installed, they make for great siding. They have a 50 yr guarantee, and on my coop, they have held up very well. Have to be careful with them before installation. If you drop one on it's corner, you will damage it. I had no problems with nailing them up. Did not have to drill any holes. Just nailed them up, like any other siding. Around the window, and other openings, I used aluminum siding J channel, to cover the exposed, cut edge.
Not familiar with the Redwood panels.

I used smart side. It's been on my shed for 12 years and looks like new still. So I used it on my coop as well. I used a good paint, when I painted my shed 12 years ago.

I have one building sided with T1-11, I don't much care for the looks. It isn't primed so it took 2 coats of paint. Has a tendency to mold slightly inside if not painted on the inside even with reasonable humidity level. Cost more than Smart side panels.

I have another shed with Smart side, none of the above issues and will use it from here on out unless I go rough cut local lumber for siding.
