I would open up the gables and cover in hardware cloth, likely will not need a fan.add a gable vent fan.

Looks to me like it is blowing into the coop, greatly reduces dust buildup on fan motor. Is that rated for barn use?
Chicken dander is a fire hazard.
It is the same one I got from the feed store that they recommend. The lady in the feed store uses it in 2 of her coops and has never had a problem. I've had it in my coop for almost a year and no issues. I give it a dusting, just like everything else every now and again. Is that rated for barn use?

Hi, I did a similar build. A fan is a good idea, but another option that I did was vented "portholes". Open rafters is also a good idea, but I don't think I see a way for you to incorporate that as far along as you are.
You can buy a 4" hole drill at the hardware store pretty cheap as it is a common plumbing size. I'd put 5-6 holes down each side of your house up on the top under the eave (because the point is to get bad air out of the coop up high). This worked wonders on my coop and I can actually feel the air pushing through the coop if I put my hand in front of them.

A 4" hole is only 12.5 square inches.
A square foot is 144 square inches. You'd need 12 holes to add a single square foot so it's much easier to simply remove the top 6 inches of the siding to add generous ventilation where it's needed most.![]()
