We are due east of Tacoma Washington, and live in a small town that is the last town of any size before the road continues up to the north side of Mt Rainier. The mountains start rising just one mile east of our house. We are at 752 feet above sea level here. It is rather unusual for us to get very much snow here. This is a record for us. In the nearly 19 years that we have lived here, we have never gotten more than 8" of snow before. The girls are looking very comfortable in the coop that is sitting in their suburban backyard. This picture was taken late last night.

Not usual, thank goodness! I was knocking the heavy snow off the bamboo growing around the pool, lost my footing, and went for a very unexpected and unwelcome swim.
