Hey everyone! I’m starting my coop build and am curious if there are any considerations to keep in mind for places with super cold winters like Wisconsin. Thanks!

LOTS of ventilation.
A run with a solid roof to keep snow out and walls that can be winterized with tarps so the flock has a place to hang out in during winter.

Make it big...and walk-in....and tall for up high ventilation.
You'll need power to heat a waterer, but probably won't need to heat the coop itself.

Might ask here too:

Oh, and...Welcome to BYC! @Saras_hen_den
Here's how to add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Welcome! We have cold winters- I ran electric for light and water heater.
my coop is on legs and I would prefer a walk in- also a run for the birds is nice.
Good luck! Access to eggs from outside is nice too.
