Corey! Tori! Why Me? Yet ANOTHER Ideal Sexing Mistake (PICS ADDED)

Speckled, I'm sorry that happened to you. I ordered 2 roos from Ideal, got 5. I considered it a newbie mistake....ordering roos that is. I should have ordered all pullets and I know I would have gotten a few roos anyhow. Luckily, my three extra boys got a good home. I was already attached, but I'll survive.
I think all hatcheries have that problem and I still love Ideal. They do tell you up front that sexing is only 90% accurate. Not much consolation, I know.

Don't feel bad, I picked out 7/8 roos from a bunch of straight run silkies. And they don't sex those.

I'm not allowed to pick birds for myself anymore. Royicus says I pick the boys out too easily and need to go for the weaker ones.

Ah, the problem of sexing chicks. Even the highly paid can't do it right apparently. That just sucks. I too got a light brahma that I was told was a female....well unless she is a cross-gendered pulet it is a he.

With the help of my DH and while waiting for my sister to call about our dad, I took some pics of Victoria and Virginia. Do you think they are Victor and Virgil?
First two pics are Victoria, second three are Virginia. They are, I think, three weeks old now.

My two SLWs pullets are 4 1/2 weeks old and look just like that... I'd wait a couple more weeks before changing the names...

Hey Cyn. I took a good long look at your kids and I honestly can not be sure on Victoria yet but I am 99 per cent positive on Virginia and I think she is a she. Her comb looks no different to me then my Lucy's comb. I am pretty you have at least one pullet, she looks a bit different then Victoria to me, not as pink. I think they are both beautiful. Trudy

Sure hope they're just trying to mess with me. My first three SLW girls, almost three years ago, didnt have that pink in their combs till about two months old. Usually, Wyandottes dont get color this early...unless they're little boys.
