Hello, I have five chicks they are 11-12 days old. I am treating them with Corid. I have the liquid form and the bottle says 16 fl oz for every 100 gallons but I’ve seen several people say 2 tspns per gallon. Based on the bottle I’m doing 6 cups at 1.8mls of Corid (six cups reduces waste for me). I’m really nervous about upping the dose for them since they are so young. Today is day 4 of their treatment, what should I do? Do I up the dose for today and tomorrow? Do I extend some days at the 2 tspns per gallon? 4 of my chicks don’t have diarrhea anymore but 1 of them still does. Please guide me through this. I’m new to this and want the best for my peepers.

Your treatment is too weak. You should be using 0.75 tsp (3.7 mls) per 6 cups. I suggest you made a fresh batch at the correct concentration. You can also give 1 drop of full strength Corid to the side of the beak so it wicks in and the chick can swallow it. That can be done once daily for 3 days IN ADDITION TO having Corid water as their only source of water.

Ok, I will adjust and should I now extend it to the full 7 days at the correct dosage you gave me? Tomorrow is day 5.

I would do the full 7 days at the proper dosage and would drench each chick at least once.

Drench as in with a dropper one drop of the undiluted Corid solution for each chick? I’m learning all the terms for feathered babies as I go :) I’m so grateful for all of your shared knowledge:)
