I am pretty sure I agree with you, however the food and weather you're describing beats Idaho all to heck!

I find it really confusing on chicken packaging.. I always buy at least free-range chicken but then as you say that can be very misleading... I also like buying chicken wings which usually don't have any kind of welfare information on the packaging.

Corn fed in the UK is also misleading, I tend to think of it as maize but am not sure after ready this forum. Maybe it should say grain fed and be more specific.
