Looks good, might need some wood on other sides. A wheel jack will make it alot easier to move, next one I make Im going to attach a wheel jack and some adjustable lawn mower wheels to move around...do you have problems with predators that dig over there

I haven't built mine yet, but I have a lot of loose chain link and was going to use that to make a skirt around the outside. I was going to use a wood base too, and use the fence staples to attach the chain link. I can buy tent pegs cheap at the dollar store to keep the skirt in place until I need to move the fence.

Well,over half the eggs in the hovabator have hatched,pso far

It will take a few months to tell how this cross will turn out. I believe they are more active than the previous crosses also more aggressive. The wing feathering appears to be extremely fast. I'm fairly certain that with adequate time they will make for some heavy birds. If my eyesight was better I would try my hand at capons.

Fast feathering is definitely a trait I'd be wanting in my, birds too. I've had some Buckeyes and crosses that were awfully slow, four months and still mostly down. Ugh. Fortunately the Buckeye/cornish crosses seem to have inherited the fast feathering of the Cornish that I have, so I'm pleased with that. JR your chicks sound very promising, congratulations!

Thanks CanadianBuckey. Im really hoping to get a good rooster cross out of my mad experiment. The Saipan are going to have to be separated into breeding pens. Im hoping for a good Dc x Scx. And the jersey giant crosses sound like what your talking about.very slow to feather

I suppose it's not an issue if the chicks are under broodies, but those couple of weeks extra $$$ for the heat lamps sure add up.

I try to keep mine in a box in a utility room for first few weeks if needed but just with a regular light bulb not a heat lamp, I use an appliance light bulb and it gets pretty hot
