Cornish Thread

I have a pair of white laced red bantam cornish. I have hatched out a dark laced roo from them and now these guys. What colors are they considered and what are all the color possibilities of my pair? I didn't realize there were so many colors!

We are raising both cornish rock giants and brown leghorns. They were all doing perfect until yesterday when the cornish rock giants suddenly started dying. They are just 8 days old. They almost look too heavy to stand and gasp for air while lying down. One of them almost seemed paralyzed and layed down stiff. We have had two die right as we walk in to check on them.. almost like they are having a heart attack?? We have raised many chicks before and never had any deaths but this is the first time raising thr cornish rock giant. Any thing i could give to them to help perk them up? Is this maybe a disease or something happened during shipping? They are eating a non medicated chick starter and i just started adding Germe Zone to their water.

I know nothing about this breed and got 2 by mistake, was wanting white rocks and the woman put 2 of these in. They started out the same sz as my WR's but now they are so big and heavy I worry they will fall over dead real soon. They take a few steps and sit down for the longest time before getting back up. And the feathers arent growing as well as the other one either. When I pick her up as she loves for me to do, she is so HOT!! Is this all normal? I dont eat my chickens, just cant bring myslef to do it, are these 2 going to dye a miserable overweight death? Is there something I can do for them, or are they going to b ok?

They sound to me to be Cornish X which are meat birds. They grow fast and heavy. If this is what they are it is better to sell them or give them to someone who is looking for meat birds. I cannot say for sure just my opinion

Do it soon they can have heart attacks, break their legs and all kinds of painful problems. Their bones don't grow fast enough to keep up with the weight gain. Don't let them eat unlimited feed either. Sorry you ended up with birds not suited to you.

Did you ever get your LF whites Lacy?
No I cancelled the order when he let slip he had a current outbreak of cocci on his place. Not worth the risk. I was surprised he was still willing to send chicks out when he knew he had a contagious disease in his paddocks.

"I keep my chicks in a separate area" he said. Hmmmm?? Well, unless you remove your shoes and change them for each area, or wear protective footwear covers for each area, and wash your hands throughly before touching anything in each area. The Cocci don't care and will follow you. So, again, hmmmm.... maybe,,,, uh NO.

So in short the answer is no and I have since decided not to raise Cornish, I sold my dark Cornish breeding pair and am down to one pullet about a month old and three chicks from them I will hopefully sell this week.
