Cornish X in pain-URGENT{graphic pic of vent}

I once had a chicken about that age who after the necropsy I determined there was a blockage, (almost tumor like), in the intestine. I had to put her down, when she could no longer stand and get to the food and water because of her weight.

Strangly enough she never seemed to be in any pain. The backup in the intestine was substantial, (it never ruptured).
You would have thought she would have been in pain.

It could be something similar only closer to the vent.

Just my two cents.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this.

ah life is going to go downhill from here. Poor baby, I would put her down, trying to fix the prolapse will be very painful for maybe a few more months of life.

I soaked her for about 10 min making sure to fully soak her bottom and sat there so she didn't drown and I could see her wiggle and cry out in pain so I put her back in her cage with her butt to me. After a few minutes she tried to have a bm and she cried out in pain while nothing but the urates came out. I waited for hubs to come home. Right now she's being put out of her misery as the soaking and trying to get the waste out was unsuccessful. The mass is quite large and wont budge. It's beyond her breast bone so there was nothing for me to grab and squeeze. It's a solid mass like that of a stone. I know she's in pain so the best thing to do is to stop that pain for her. She will be missed. Her name is Ilsa and we loved the time she spent with us.

I'm so sorry. But I am in agreement with your decision. We try to give our animals a good life, and when necessary and possible, a good death. It is a responsible act of kindness.
