Cornish X--Never again

No livestock in the house, including chickens!!!!!!

You won't beat the Cornish X in terms of meat yield or feed efficiency. They put on lean meat faster than any commercial livestock in the USA. Feed them and enjoy them when they are on your plate in 8 weeks.

oh man, dont try to raise those in summer if you dont want stink, maggots and dead birds, use plywood and make a big brooder outside with a couple of heat lights in it,start the middle of feb or the first of march, butcher before it gets hot,if you live in town might not be a good idea to do at all

Thats why 5 week olds are called fryers, run em on grass and they dont get the fat build up as confined do. I cant get rangers for less
than $2 ea , I can get cc for .75 and thats to my door.

Where do you get cornish delivered for .75 each?

I buy in bulk - thousands.

The ranger broiler is a feather colored meat bird designed for more of a free range bird.

jmhatchery.com has the colored range broilers, formerly known as
Freedom Rangers.

Cornish definately are the most productive meat birds. I have raised
both Cornish and Rangers, along with turkeys, ducks and quail too.
Each has it's own advantages and disadvantages.

The first birds we ever processed were leghorns. We hatched out a bunch.

They are not very big, maybe 2 to 3 pounds max but make excellent
soup birds or OK fryers.

They reach full size around week 24 but can be processed as early as 12
weeks.

They may stinky stinky stink now, but they will smell so much better in the oven.
