I guess that's why I'm that person....you know...the one you see regularly going in and out of the library struggling to carry a large canvas bag full of books that weights more than the person dragging it to the car.
Could never afford all the books I do have if it weren't for the used outlets I frequent and nearly all the fiction I consume are library books, paper or audio. Don't think I've ever read a fiction kindle book cover to cover because like many of you guys I'm a tactile book person. I like holding the book in my hands, seeing how many pages are left, turning the pages in anticipation....the complete tactile experience.

Never read Alice is Wonderland. I know...*gasp*....
One cannot truly appreciate the Jabberwock unless one reads it in print ... it's the going back to reread what just totally confused you ... again ... that really brings the whole point(less) mess to a head ... right about the time someone screams "Off With Yours!"

Hey @FortCluck - Your ad suggestion worked. All six of my Asians went to a brand new home ... and they're coming back for a pair of Nankins as soon as I know what we've got under the hens. And yes, it's no longer "hen," it's henS. My Evie decided she wanted to join the hatching party again. This time, though, those babies are coming out right away ... before she has a chance to step on them!

I’m so glad it worked!!! I’m bringing some chicks to a customer tomorrow. Then quail on Sunday afternoon.

You see I avoid this problem fairly well considering... well ok no I don't, I have a lot of books. BUT I have a pretty stinking awesome used bookstore that I go to. Aisles and aisles and aisles of books! Bring in my used books, pick out new books to read, pay for most of that with store credit. Some people complain about them being pricey but I've found many books for 50 cents or less. Or just keep looking sometimes I find the same book priced lower :celebrate.

That was me too once upon a time lol! My library had a 6 book limit though :( And they had this silly age limit thing on some books. Like I think you had to be at least 16 to check out "Interview with a Vampire" and I was such a bad kid that I managed to get away with it one time. Only took like 4 attempts... I don't think I've ever finished a kindle book either. I have prime and had one of the first kindle things that came out but it is just wasted on me. Downloaded a crochet pattern book once though!

Oops I meant Through the Looking Glass not Jabberwocky. Someone asked if it was as good as the movies. Honestly I can't really remember them I get the impression I was confused most of the time. I really enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia series. Oh and Nancy Drew but I hate whatever it is they put out on tv. I thought it would be something cool to watch with my daughter and about 15 minutes in I was like wow this is NOTHING like the books. Does anyone else feel like movies rarely live up to the book?
6 books only?? :th
We have 2 libraries I can go to (during normal times) and I made sure to get kiddo a card even though kiddo rarely uses it because there is also the school library.
One library allows 25 per card, the other 50. And yes, I often have to use both cards for myself....
Unfortunately neither one has a very extensive ebook/overdive collection. At my other farm (and state) the online offerings were statewide and extensive. Here it's regional. Kindle has been nice for getting some things through my amazon prime thing, and at least I can do kindle on my PC so I can print out recipes or things I need a copy of.

Also, at my old library there was quarterly used book sales. A whole bag of books was usually about $3. I used to have to make two or three trips to the car. My new libraries have small continuous used book sections, but those are often $3 each.

Yep, I'm with you on the movie/book thing. Books almost always have better development and richer details.

Our teeny tiny library is getting a brand new home - a HUGE, two-story, state-of-the-art building with high-tech capability, meeting rooms and individual study cubicles (we have a rapidly growing college right up the road, so those will be in high demand, I'm sure.) Watching that beautiful new building going up has been one of the few joys during this whole stay-at-home mess. Not only is it going to open up new venues for the community, but I'm hoping to get a new venue for myself - a job with the young-adult or children's sections. Both are slated for large, stand-alone rooms. Now THAT would be right up my alley!

Oh I hope you can get a job there! It sounds wonderful!!
Life took me in a different direction, but I always wanted to be a librarian. Heck, Id be happy to work as a shelfer...anything to be able to spend time with more books.

I need to read it
