:lau I just found out Amazon delivers too.

I swear we’re supposed to be wearing masks in close contact still. Especially delivery people. Their vehicles are considered their office (I know they aren’t allowed to smoke in it) so should be masked. Getting into various customers’ faces, it’s risky!
. 🤣💃

Statewide I believe, though we did just cross a thresh hold to a second phase I think. But most people here have ignored all the mandates from the beginning. There was a funeral gathering close by during the strictest part of the stay at home/no gathering orders back in April. Probably 75 to 100 people...not a mask in sight. :(

We haven't been heavily hit, but I think it's been just a matter of dumb luck.
We haven't been hit in my county yet. So far just one case and they have recovered. But that's not going to last much longer. Now that it's warming up people from all over the state are flocking here or passing through here, which means they are gong to our gas stations, stores hotels, ect.

This weekend we have free fishing, the fishing derby and the hill climb. People come from all over the united states for the hill climb. They are off road vehicles that have races up some of our steepest hills. Not to mention all the spectators. Yesterday one off the restaurants was bragging about how they had a couple drive from over 100 miles away to eat here because of a free add they placed with a radio station! To top this all off hardly anyone is wearing a mask!

Broke social distancing yesterday. Our grandson is back from California. We hadn't seen him since Christmas. Grandparents aren't allowed a favorite, but ---------------- He returned with a new girlfriend in tow - nice girl. Granddaughter and her boyfriend have been staying at my daughter's home - really like that boy and told her so . Hope she keeps this one. It was great to hug my family once again. Perhaps not smart, but time will tell the tale.

I LOVE my JG girl! She's about the sweetest natured bird I've ever had!
I've heard nothing but good things about JGs so in addition to ordering some females, I did something I've never, EVER done.....ordered a roo. On purpose....
Plan to keep the females in my flock for sure and time will tell on a roo.
Yeah, I miss the Speckled Sussex. These orps are super fluffy!
I SO miss my Speckled Sussex! The very first time I ordered chicks, however many years ago, I went out of my way to find a hatchery that had them because I knew I wanted them. Since then I've always had them and when I moved here I brought several with me from the old farm, one being a chicken from that very first order.

She was my favorite bird and was old and limpy from arthritis by that time, hadn't laid an egg in a few years, but I just could not part with her. She finally passed from old age at 12 and I am sadly now devoid of any speckles. Still getting things built here and none of the chick orders since moving here have worked out to where I could work some SS in, but soon. And eventually I'll have a better set up that allows for the feather colors and varieties I'm used to plus some feathered feet and top hats.

I too had a favorite hen, my first SS. Since then I've had at least one or more in my flock, can't do without them! The cockerels, some nice, some not, but the hens, really lovely birds. Our first BOs weren't a hit here, so it's been a long time since I've had any. Right now I have one hen, and she is nice. The JG's from the hatcheries varied a lot in size, and I liked the smaller hens best, who could get up on the roosts. Lost them last spring, and don't have any right now.
One year into having Buckeye hens, I ordered more this spring, and really like them! Another breed to consider, and a friend has two roosters, both polite.
And French Marans, and the bantams...

My favorite hen is a wild beast 😂 She was a feral chicken when I bought her at a chicken swap. Her name is Blue Footed Booby and she’s a gold laced polish. She mates with my silver Deathlayer and check out the chicks they’ve created.

Can you tell a little more of your experiences with Buckeyes? It's one of the few brown layers that I have not had yet. I've been eyeballing them a lot the last 2 years, but current goals vs current room means I have to wait on those until maybe next year.

I do miss those beautiful dark brown Maran and Welsummer eggs. 😢 My hens were terrific birds too.

@MROO I'm not selling the Polish Deathlayers. I told my DH I can’t bring myself to let such pretty birds go 😂 He put those 3 and the buff silkie chick in the official layer flock.

I have 4 Pullet Leghorns I’m going to grow out and maybe sell 2 of them at POL. Then the light Brahmas I’m positive are pullets so I’ll sell them at POL as well.
