Today I learned they managed to make a new season of great british bake off through the pandemic.

"Due to the ongoing pandemic, the hosts (comedian/actor Matt Lucas joins Noel Fielding this season!), 12 new bakers, and judges (Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, of course!) formed a bubble before production began to quarantine together and allow for closer interaction once on-set.

In further COVID changes, shooting actually took place over the past six weeks at a top-secret location in the UK, replacing the usual months-long production schedule.
Season 11 of arrives in the UK next Tuesday (22 September) with episodes rolling out on Netflix in the US every Friday (from 25 September)."

I'm kind of mad that they took the risk, but it sounds like they put real effort into keeping people safe and I'm also kind of really looking forward to it so....

Interesting.
Perhaps a quick tour of their local ICUs might get through to people in this country. Kinda like forcing a flat-earther onto a boat that sails around the world.

Unfortunately that's not how flat earth theory works. I've seen a ton of stuff on it and it would not be convincing to a flat earther. But I've seen this month people who are super covid-hoaxers almost dying from it and coming back being like "Look I lived so I still think it's over exaggerated.". So Idk man. I gots me no faith for such people left.

We have some local flat-earthers that are notorious! I've posted about getting into the paper for aggressive stupid behavior.

These folks are so myopic that they can see through a knothole In a barn door from 100yd with both eyes open. You could launch them up to ISS and they would not believe the view from the window sayings a hoax.....

In this country This Is Us goes back to filming next week. They've spent 5 months consulting with state and national government and health officials on the logistics and conditions, working out safety protocols and equipping, and disseminating exacting procedures for the various types of contact people will have with one another from being behind a camera on the same set to applying makeup to kissing.

It's been a massive undertaking before a foot of film rolls through a camera (no, there isn't any film anymore but I don't know a more accurate way to express it) but they're ready to do what they do in a brave new world.

Wow, I am just chiming in on this one.
Has anyone watched "Social Dilemma" on Netflix yet? It explains a lot about what is going on with our behavior and how social media is affecting it. Very interesting.
I also just got back from Germany. Things are handled a bit differently in Europe.
They have strict rules, people have to follow them, if you don't, there are huge fines and they will enforce them. The police for example was wandering around the parks, breaking up parties and gatherings of large groups. Kids are back in school and have to follow a strict protocol of washing hands and distancing from each other. If they have cold or flu symptoms, they have to stay home and the parents get to stay home with them, excused and paid day from work.
Do people complain over there and think it is a hoax. Sure. However, a lot have seen what it will do to the community and they don't want that anymore. They understand that the financial system will break down if they don't do their part and help fight the virus.
Will we have a vaccination for this virus and be free of the mask by the beginning of 2021? Maybe. However, I think this pandemic is an eye-opener. Even if we will be able to fight this virus, there might be another one and another one.
We should all learn from this, wash our hands more often, eat better, use our resources more carefully, and be respectful with each other. Only then can we fight when something like this comes our way again.
