I vaguely remember something about a wooden spoon and a saucepan ....
Don't give 'em an enameled pan to bang. Those lovely blue speckles splinter off in big, beautiful flakes. Not that I would actually know that ... just speculating for a friend (and so my Mom doesn't know who gave the kids the good mini-roaster to bang that New Years Eve many, many moons ago ...)

{{{ sigh }}} Our snow event is over, at least for now. We have roughly 3 of the projected 6 inches, but it's now all rain. It's turning our lovely snow into a nasty, heavy, immovable slush. By morning it will likely be an inch and a half of solid ice. That is unless we get the extra inch or so of snow on top of it, as some of the weather monsters are speculating. Now doesn't THAT sound like fun?
Nope.
Was wondering about that .....am a radar watcher.

found out a friend died of covid-19 this morning.
A group from work went to a closed bar for a party. A couple of guys got it. .. my friend, their boss, got it 2 weeks after the party so they think they got it at the party and he got it from them. I guess he had been on ventilator for a week or so.
He was a couple years older than me, only health issue was high BP that was under control
I'm so sorry to hear that! :hugs
He got a new job and I guess he had to be tested. We’re not close to being minors but we are going to be quarantined.
I hope your bother has a very easy time of it!

Sorry I haven't been around as much lately. It's been a busy time off the forum, as well as busy on the forum with many holiday projects and contests going on.

Unfortunately a friend of mine's hubby is in the ICU, on a vent, and fighting for his life right now. Both of them got it...her sick but stay at home sick, and him it hit hard.

Most of you that have been here since the beginning of the thread, or for a while, know I've been pretty upbeat throughout, but things are starting to wear on me now. I am hopeful after seeing shots starting to go into arms, and now we wait to see if any of them ..or future ones, will be safe for my health challenged kiddo.

I am thinking of you all, just spread thin here.

edit: typo

HUGE hug coming your way right now, Snappy! Prayers and extra strength for your friend and her DH, as well. We had a friend hospitalized for three months - on and off the ventilator for weeks at a time. He's a long-hauler with some residual side-effects from the virus, but he's alive, and he's home, and he's gonna be okay. Here's to hoping for the same or better results for your friends husband.
How's your youngster doing with all the illness and school issues? Are you having fun playing full-time teacher in addition to all the other things you do in your "spare time?" ;)

Hey you!
Thank you!!:hugs Hearing the stories of vent survivors helps a lot! As do the prayers.:love
We wait, pray, and see.

Kiddo is doing ok. Thankfully more self sufficient in the schooling department than most. And the best part...when icky weather hits (like now) I don't have to worry about making the slippery drive to school! ...yeah, it's the little things. :D

We are starting to get stir crazy, but like most places with large pockets not heeding the warnings, our hospitals are busting at the seems, have freezer trucks parked outside, and are 4 times over their capacity. So, stir crazy it will be for us for a while.
Somewhere not too far from us a town/small city was cited by the health department for ignoring mandates and putting on their annual holiday parade anyway. Doh!

"Spare time"...**snort**

Stir crazy? Why whatever can you mean? I was so desperate for an outing that I went out once, ONCE in eight months, for a well-orchestrated "safe" afternoon with my best friend ... and we both ended up down with Covid. So, it's back to stir-crazy mode again. No Thanksgiving. No Christmas. No funeral for my Dad (that's the toughest one.) No school now until Jan 8th ... at least that makes it easier to stay home. There's no need to go out when your job disappears. Sure would be nice if that forced unemployment came with unemployment insurance, but no such luck. So, on top of all that, I'm job hunting. Again.

But you know what? It's all good. Both kids still have their jobs, DD just finished her first semester of online college classes and I have a few small sewing commissions to keep me busy for awhile, if not rolling in wealth. We'll be okay. Now, if I could just get these simple hens to start laying again, we'll be all set. I'm having incubator withdrawal ...
I need peeps! :jumpy

No outings here either, unless feed pick-up in front of the feed store is considered an outing. :D
And again, I'm so sorry about your dad! I know how close you and your family are and it has got to be rough!! :hugs

Couple more days of "school" here then Christmas break, but we are being pressed to cement spring and fall plans and I'm going bonkers because as of yet there is no safe vaccine for kiddo. How in the world can we sign up for "must do" things when I don't even know when it will be safe again. And they (the pushers) are acting like come Jan...*magic wand and poof* things will be all normal again.
Um, no.

Did you ever get any bites on the covid tracking thing? Our local health department is so overwhelmed they announced weeks ago all tracing will stop. They can't keep up. A few local schools tried to remain on a hybrid after that and paid the price. All the area schools are distance again and look to remain so for the second half of the school year.

There's just to much infection going around right now, and likely through February. The holidays won't be good, and vaccinations aren't available for most, and take 30+ days to take effect.
But in a week the days will be getting longer! By late January it's lighter longer, yahoo!
I've seen a small hawk under one of the bird feeders twice recently. Not here long enough for a picture, never have seen one like it before. Maybe Sharp Shinned? I'm annoyed that He's still a 'mystery bird'!
