If you're doing masks I've switch to this fitted pattern. It's easy to do, it comes in many sizes and they're comfortable to wear. You can make them in the fold-flat style that she illustrates in her video or align the diagonals on the inside and make a boxier version that stands away from the mouth.

I use 2 layers of quilting cottons and line the inside with a third fuzzy flannel layer for comfort.

Thanks! but I'm a half step ahead, there ... I downloaded it when you first posted the "new" pattern! I have a few ready to cut out, so I'll let you know how it holds up against DD's "favorite." I just got some great cow print fabric for appliques, so I have a feeling she won't care too much about style. As long as she gets herself a guernsey mask, she'll be thrilled!

I've given up. Having covid totally FRIED my hair. I don't have split ends, the entire shaft is frizzed. All those lovely curls are dry, wiry and constantly snarling together. Deep conditioning and oil treatments aren't helping. Tonight, I'll give it Gramma's old-world mayonnaise treatment. If that doesn't work, I may just go ahead and dye it blue or turquoise or hot pink or some other radical color, "just because." I've always wanted to do it, but never had the nerve. If it's all got to be cut off when this is over, I might as well give it a shot. We'll see if I actually get the cojones to do it!

OMG...we should totally do it. I've always wanted to dye my hair a wild color too. Teal or purple I think. And I have wild curls also. Been cutting my own hair for years because when it's curly one can hardly see the goof ups. For reals!

My sewing machine runs constantly, these days. Everyone is getting a year's seasons of Holiday Face Masks for Christmas. I have so much fleece and flannel (we all know that the one who dies with the most unfinished projects wins, right?) that I may make my Mom and sisters new "work attire," too ... aka sleep-pants!

I'm probably a contender for that award. Half finished quilts, wall hangings, PJs, and UFOs (unfinished fabric objects) abound...

Did order some cute fabrics of animal faces and some pretty and small art quilt copies from Spoonflower to make into masks. Figured if I have to wear them it might as well be fun. I've gotten a few comments on the Star Wars one I made...

Hey! I've got a bathtub sitting in my front yard.

More than a month ago my ancient washing machine broke when I tried to wash a heavy bathroom rug. We had babied those machines along for years because newer machines have gotten much larger and they don't fit in my tight laundry room. But it couldn't be done anymore. That machine was irretrievably fried.

So I've had a construction crew here for a couple weeks now re-configuring my whole laundry room so the new machines can be relocated to a different wall where they won't vibrate in front of the door and barricade the room closed forever.

Monday my new laundry machines come and I'll be able to wash clothes for the first time in a month. Guess what I'll be doing from then until Christmas...

Meanwhile, while we've got construction going, we bit the bullet and engaged to get a bathroom done as well. We suspected that black mold had developed inside the walls. Happily, it was all on the surface! But that room got -- and remains -- gutted too.

Today the bathtub arrived. It's too big to fit in the garage that's bursting to the gunnels with other building materials and various cabinets waiting to go back into the laundry room. It had to go somewhere until the floor and walls get re-tiled. So it's sitting in my front yard. I guess the worst thing that can happen is it will get all wet. But it should be up to water! I just hope the neighbors can cope for a week or so...

Maybe I should put a tree in it, add lights and call it a Christmas decoration.

Ever made fleece socks, MROO?

I got a pair when we lived in Canada. They were a revelation! They're soft and cozy and not at all tight so you can wear them to bed and be all toasty and not feel constricted at all.

I loved them so much I got a pattern and made them for everyone in the family. They're not hard to do BUT there is a step where you have to sew something you can't see. I did it by feel and only sewed through my finger once. She doesn't seem to do it but I left the seam allowance on the exterior for a smooth interior (where your tootsies have to feel everything) and then zigzagged the seam allowance down for a finished exterior. (That's when I sewed through my finger. But only once! )

Anyway, if you have extra fleece I highly recommend them. I still use mine here in SoCal.

Covid-19 gave us all the time to devote to raising chicks and building basic tractors and coops from scraps that have been laying around for years. And for my area the "rona" is the least of our problems this year. We were hit with two major hurricanes weeks apart. It will be at least a decade before we start to see any semblance of normal around here again.

Our jobs also discovered that we can be just as effective working from home as we are at the office. It's made the option to work from home viable for all of us. So, not all Rona changes have been negative. Only most of them are poopie.

Two years ago, we had a large propane tank in the front yard, waiting for pickup. I added a wreath to it for the holidays, a nice improvement.
Go for it!
Our kitchen and main bathroom got redone late 2018 into 2019, a miserable LONG experience, but all worth it! Enjoy your new rooms!

Spent the whole day today making rabbit sausage for my friends for Yule. :O So much work. We're making something like 15lbs.
