Valid. I struggle to remember that chess with chickens isn't actually fun. 9_9;
Chicken Chess ... Oh. Good. Heavens! You have NO IDEA how badly my mind blew up on this particular visual! I haven't laughed that hard in ages!
The "Why..."
A dear friend of mine runs the local chess club through our church. Contrary to what most of us thought, it has REALLY taken off ... so much so that they held their own "Invitational Tournament" last year. In his spare Covid time, he has also put a lot more effort into his small flock of chickens. I saw "Chicken Chess" and the first thing that flashed through my mind was John and "playing" with his chickens. The man's an engineering genius - drives his wife NUTS with all the "innovations' he dreams up. I can see him setting up a whole outdoor board, complete with rules and scoring, for this. Once the chaos of the Holidays is over, I may just introduce him to the concept ...

Sire was the retriever, isn't 40# small for that breed?
I know Sour already answered but wanted to further it and say a lot of these dogs are multigenerational now. Some breeders still breed first generation crosses or will breed both but I know for some, like the Australian Labradoodle (Lab, Cocker, Poodle), there are breeders that have been breeding only doodle to doodle for a while and have been getting them to breed relatively true. Some even have their standards and health test and are trying to make them into a real breed. 😊

I use a pink toner. The longer I leave in the pinker my hair gets. Even with a little toning I feel a little better. It is animal friendly and a good co. Not sure on environment but def not as bad as a dye. It will dry your hair a little more so be sure to use a leave on conditioner ;)

I'm really sorry you got sick but glad you are doing better :hugs:jumpy
My hair is a lot darker than hers, but I really don't want to bleach it, first. It's already damaged enough.

It will be hitting here in about 60 minutes.

...

Ignoring the pot stirrers...
...
They lied and said it was going to warm up a bit. It's down to 21 and dropping.
Luckily it will be above freezing Saturday.

good plan

Sire was the retriever, isn't 40# small for that breed?
Yup, but just because Papa was small doesn't mean Baby will be similar. Mixed breed genetics, even known breeds, is often a (very fun) crap shoot. It reminds me of an old quote from, I believe, George Bernard Shaw. I may not have it perfect, but the gist goes:
A beautiful young woman approaches Shaw at a party and quips, "With my beauty and your brains, we should have children together!" His retort was, "But alas, madam, what if they have MY looks and YOUR intelligence?"

Things could aways be worse.

Even for them :(
My thought is hungry is hungry, scared is scared, suffering is suffering and dead is dead- no matter where you live. We happen to be in the "wealthiest" country, ya know, the best of the best and all- but we have people who are hungry, scared, suffering and dying at alarming rates from a pandemic. I think it is always great to have empathy and sympathy for others no mater where they live, shows one can think outside of themselves and may not be a sociopath. We can afford or have access to masks and most can social distance, so where one is and what is happening is all perspective for sure. It's not like we are golfing instead of problem solving when we have the best of the best resources at our fingertips. Perspective.

They really don't shed!
Remember that "Non-shedding" is actually a misnomer. All dogs shed ... just some less than others. With most of the "non-shedding" breeds, the fur still sheds, it just catches in the coat. Those nasty knots behind their ears and the in the skirts ... yup! That's why its SO important to brush your doodle, or poodle, or shih-tzu or whatever. If you don't, the shed hair causes all sorts of mats and costs you a small fortune at the groomer. Start puppies young and they'll enjoy the bonding time, instead of dreading the tug and pull on mats.
