I'm just curious. Is any pro-vaccine/mask post acceptable, and anything anti-vaccine/mask considered "political" and automatically verboten?
First of all, welcome!

I think your question is one for the administrators but if you ask here, I think the answer is most of us are very pro reality, social responsibility and the common good.

Say what you want, be prepared to back it up with facts from authentic sources and don't be surprised that there may be reaction both pro and con.

The NYT is reporting that the FDA has authorized use of a new combination monoclonal antibody therapy that aims to prevent people very ill with the virus having to be hospitalized.

Good news that there's more in the treatment arsenal!

Meanwhile, is there some therapy to assist us in pronouncing the word salad of new pharmaceuticals? Bamlanivimab and etesevimab. I swear they're down to putting alphabet dice in cups and stringing together the vowels and consonants that result when they caste them. How much time do medical professionals spend learning to pronounce these things so that they can communicate with one another?

It's OK. Add a vowel in either one and it's probably a stool softener. Lol.

Add in the stereotypical Dr handwriting, misfilled prescriptions becomes entirely believable!

I think we will have effective and inexpensive treatments in our near future. Unfortunately I also think this virus will have its seasons similar to the flu. Hope not... but new strains popping up as fast as they are it's just a matter of time until we're behind the eight ball.

hello, no specific reaction to the vacc ,tired but that can be normal for me .I am due the second dose in april ,on my birthday to be exact ! a couple of friends are having the single dose vaccine ,don,t know how effective that will be , but anything is better than nothing I think.booking hols abroad is illegal here at the moment ,when the ban is lifted it will be chaos .over thirteen million people have now been vaccinated ,we are doing well in this country .

Thanks for that, feather! It's kinda wonderful what we have access to just now during the lockdown. Last Spring I got to go to the virtual Chelsea Flower Show in London. I'll never get to it in reality in my life so it was a memorable week.

Anyway, thanks for another interesting opportunity!

PS My middle daughter is a UCR grad. I've got Berkeley and a Santa Cruz grads too.

Ooooh... the virtual Chelsea Flower Show sounds lovely and inspiring! The pandemic is overwhelming, sad, and scary, but, like you, I've also been able to attend events virtually that I never would have been able to in my pre-2020 life. Small musical concerts have felt really cool and intimate and I've had the chance to interact with some of my favorite independent musicians through virtual performances.

I would love to hear of more virtual events folks are attending, especially any webinars or talks that are poultry-related.

Congratulations on your UC grads! You must be so proud! I work at UCR :)

no one said anything challenging. I took IamRainey's remark as stating this virus is a REAL problem, and discussion here is about tackling it reasonably and with consideration of other people.

I think you'll be the first here to be fully vaccinated, sourland. Given the impact of the virus in NY and NJ that seems right.

So glad you guys made it through! Hope you will enjoy the time when you're able to make contact with your larger family! I wonder if they'll advise you when that might exactly be...
Does that mean he is the oldest? Lol
