Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

Just found this thread and wow did it change my life a lot. Probably was the worst year of my life and seems to keep following me. I just can't wait or all of it to go away.

It has given me severe anxiety and isolated me from people so for long that even being around people if it's just a few I get anxious.

I can no longer eat in restaurants not cause of them being closed but it's too many people I freak out.

I can thank covid for my 1,000's of dollars in therapy since I had a session once a week for 7 months now for $200 a session!

I’m hoping that therapy has been helpful for you, and I wish you the best in your recovery :hugs

Just popping in for a quick venting session. After avoiding this for over a year, we finally had a coworker test positive. Or, actually, her whole family tested positive and everyone is symptomatic, including her, but she tested negative. She’s off work, of course, but the rest of us are expected to keep on trucking.

We’ve all decided to get tested, despite our HM stating that we were at no risk, which is stupid as we’ve had the UK variant in the area and we all had a long meeting with the person present, a meeting during which there was food, so masks were temporarily off. That, and we all work together for hours at a time anyways.

The masks we’ve been provided with and are expected to use at work are cheap “not for medical use” craptastic masks.

I’m just angry that HM thinks there’s nothing to worry about. I’m also tired. We’ve worked straight through this as “essentials” without the benefit of hazard pay or early vaccinations. Our work has increased to an almost unmanageable level, but we keep on going.

Now, I love what I do. However, don’t tell me that none of us have been exposed. Getting tested for the first time tonight. Wish me luck!

Also, those darn Covid symptoms are so broadly defined at this point that of course I have “symptoms”. Those “symptoms” are also the same as allergies ad not getting enough sleep! Anyhoo, thanks for letting me rant!

Edited to add: A couple of coworkers were just about to get vaccinated, and my group becomes eligible in 1 week!
It sounds like you are quite deserving of some ranting time. I had thought grocery store workers here in Massachusetts were considered essential personnel and had been eligible for vaccinations two months ago, however, not the case. I was very upset about that. This has been a tough year for pretty much all of us and it is understandably frustrating when some small minded people don't recognize or accept the gravity of this pandemic. Lucky few who haven't been affected personally, but that doesn't mean it's not real. I've never seen the Eiffel Tower in person, but I acknowledge that it does exist. Just saying!

THAT is scary!!
When I had it, I got 2 negative tests before a positive...I kept going back because I was SURE it was covid. I'd been exposed and had all the symptoms. So luckily I was isolating myself in spite of the "negative" tests. Those super fast ones evidently aren't very accurate. They finally agreed do give me the more expensive test that goes to the lab for a couple days, and guess what? Positive.

My husband also tested positive once he got a lab test...he never got symptoms though. Lucky dog!

Well now I'm worried, haha... I got my 6th COVID test ever on Monday, it was rapid, and it was negative.

I'm certain I had COVID around this time last year. All the symptoms, super tired for weeks on end, etc. I had also just come back from a trip to a wedding in Dallas, where my godfather was "sick" after coming back from a trip to California.
