Two weeks ago our government loosened up the corona restrictions way too much. Many young people got infected in night clubs , student clubs and festiVals where they didn’t keep distance and used fake clearance proof they where corona - free.
One big mistake was made too. They gave a clearance one day (instead of two weeks) after vaccination. The delta variant is increasing like crazy now.

Yesterdays numbers of people tested positive and graphics of the increase. The blue line is an average of tge past week. The light blue column shows what happenes from day to day. The ‘outbreak management team’ and the government had an extra meeting yesterday.
Tonight we probably get new restrictions.

Yes. We have new restrictions because the covid exploded (delta) Closure time at midnight and all clubs close until mid august. Cafés and theaters Are allowed to open for people with seats + 1,5 meter distance.
One of the reasons is that many young people get lung 🫁 covid and are fatigue for a long time with this Delta variant.

I'm fully vaccinated and have had Covid. I'm going back to wearing a mask in public because of Delta. Delta won't be the last variant, I'll bet.
Sorry to hear that you were sick. :/ And yes, it's a good idea -- I'm honestly expecting to see some lockdowns or at least mask mandates pop up this fall once respiratory disease season is in full swing. Also, there is an Epsilon variant brewing in California that has 3 changes to the spike protein (the target of all the vaccines) that may allow it to evade the immune response of those vaccinated.

Oh! About the spike protein -- So as it turns out, it behaves differently than when it is attached to the intact SARS-CoV-2 virus. It kind of hangs out on the surface of the cells around the injection site. A very small amount, about 1%, does get into the bloodstream -- where it is destroyed by liver enzymes.

I've been fully vaccinated since March. I have a sister that refuses to get it. I don't understand that.
I still wear a mask most of the time in stores. When the requirement was lifted, I continued because after so long, I felt naked without it.
I'm betting we will all be wearing masks again by the end of the year.
Thanks in large part to people like my sister who allow the virus to continue.

You are correct. Look up epsilon variant if you’re interested. I was going to post a link but there were quite a few and I couldn’t decide.

I’m sorry about your sister. I have several conservative relatives and fortunately they got vaccinated. A couple of their kids haven’t however, I know they are worried about them. :(

That is a definite shame. Even if you do get sick after being vaccinated, the course of the illness is VASTLY less severe. And a lot of us will be wearing masks by the end of the year because we were less sick from MANY of those winter viruses.

No vaccine yet available for the under-12 crowd. I am on pins and needles waiting for it for my 7 year old. I refuse to let him go back to in-person school learning, and my workplace full-well knows it. The data for 5-11 year olds is coming in, and I am hopeful that it will be available by the end of the year. There are clinical studies currently enrolling children from 6 months old to 4 years old, I expect that if no ill effects are found, that the vaccine for the younger kids will be available sometime in mid-2022. Feels like an eternity. 😭

I have a granddaughter who just turned 12 but the littles are 1 and 4. It’s going to be a long few months!
