Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

  • Scientists sharply criticized the Biden administration’s push to widely distribute Covid booster shots, saying the data provided by U.S. officials wasn’t compelling.
  • While data suggests there is a reduction in protection against mild and moderate disease, the shots still held up well against severe disease, scientists said.
  • “The data are showing that yes, we are seeing breakthrough infections but, the infections are mild or moderate colds,” said Johns Hopkins University’s Dr. Anna Durbin.

Interesting choice of words.

New data on coronavirus vaccine effectiveness may be "a wakeup call"

What they're saying: The study found the Pfizer vaccine was only 42% effective against infection in July, when the Delta variant was dominant. "If that's not a wakeup call, I don't know what is," a senior Biden official told Axios.

Yes, but: There has been no data so far that has found either vaccine's protection against severe disease and death is significantly less against Delta, and the study notes that there doesn't appear to be much of a difference in complications stemming from breakthrough infections based on which vaccine someone got.

All this over..."mild to moderate colds," as has always been, and more :lau.

"Vaccine manufacturers are making next generation vaccines to try and stay one step ahead, but it is unpredictable. So you need other interventions to address the potential evolution of the virus," Hazuda said.

"More than a year into the pandemic only one antiviral treatment — remdesivir — is currently recommended for use in the U.S., and experts say it is not nearly effective enough."
Scientists are hopeful that new drugs designed to stop the virus' deadly reproduction could reduce hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19.
Their drug, molnupiravir, is one of two powerful medicines to treat COVID-19 that are nearing the end of clinical testing."

Ivermectin is the original Merk Molnupiravir, kinda cheap generic version Merk can't make $$$ off, Molnupiravir they can have a patent.
If they are vastly different please prove me wrong, I'd rather be right than wrong.

The United States is devoting $3.2 billion to speed development of antiviral pills to treat COVID-19 and other dangerous viruses that could turn into pandemics.
the U.S. said it would purchase 1.7 million doses of an experimental antiviral pill from Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, if it is shown to be safe and effective,
Molnupiravir.

I hope once FDA give the blessing to approve pfizer vaccine…their no excuses to say it “experimental” or don’t bother try to take Ivermectin. 🙄🤦‍♂️
With both vaccine and antivirals we will be OK. Don't crap on antivirals, we may never see the end of covid antivirals may be very necessary.
I hope the FDA gives the experimental technology that has been around for a couple decades but has never been licensed for use their OK after hundreds of millions have taken it.
And, beings the vaccines, look at the data, look at the science, have not been perfect, still get and pass covid after full vaccination.
We NEED to ALSO take a closer look at antiviral drugs much more enthusiastically IMHO.
I've maybe never had the flu IDK rarely ever been sick but I guess if you get it there is some antivirals that help there will be same thing with covid I think we should ALL hope so.
Want to know what the great Dr Fauci says about it? ;
"In fact, medications have been a priority all along"
