They are saying you can’t get unemployment if you are fired for no vaccine.

But those who are already on unemployment didn’t have to be vaccinated to get or to keep their benefit.

Why is there an assumption that people who are unemployed choose to be? Or that the vast majority of unemployed are also unvaccinated? There are a lot of unemployed single parents who have no one to look after their children and for that reason cannot go to work. There just seems to be an awful lot of resentment toward the unemployed as a whole, and they don't all deserve that

I think the resentment is over the fact that mandates cover the employed, but no similar requirements for those receiving assistance--whatever their reason for getting them.

I work in a hospital and after having Covid and becoming a long hauler, I choose to be vaccinated. I don't understand what all the fuss is from those who work in hospitals who don't want to be vaccinated.

In order to work at a hospital you have to be vaccinated against a variety of infectious diseases. They run a blood test to see what anti bodies you have ( measles, chicken pox , hepatitis Ect..) if you don't have those anti bodies then you MUST get vaccinated in order to work there. You also MUST get the flu vaccine every year.

It doesn't matter what dept. you work in, from the business offices to the E.R. everyone MUST be vaccinated. So it's just another vaccine added to the list.

This yr will be way worse than what we've seen so far. "Officials say 16% of the state's hospital workers, or some 83,000 people" are not vaccinated just in the state of NY. How many of them will to keep their jobs IDK?

Already seeing big bare shelves in stores, many different products from food to everything.
We just put in a new toilet, DW threw away the brush and plunger old just buy new ones no biggie. One Walmart and three dollar stores later before we found a set Lol.
Wasn't a single can of soup either.
Wanted carb cleaner having probs with lawn tractor carburetor was going to tear it down and clean. None at Walmart or NAPA or Advanced Auto....
From the sounds of it on the news we might see completely empty store shelves soon.
Can things get worse? Sounds like the world has said "hold my beer!"

This exactly. I have no issue with anyone receiving benefits for whatever their reason. Only that there are requirements for keeping a job and no requirements for keeping current benefits.

Home health aides are next for Hochul vaccine mandate​

"There are approximately 1,500 home health agencies licensed in the state. The Home Care Association of New York reported that a survey of 189 of those agencies indicates that more than 12,000 of the staffers are refusing to be vaccinated and are thus willing to face termination from employment.


Gov. Kathy Hochul's administration has signaled healthcare workers who are fired for refusing to abide by the vaccination order will be disqualified from collecting state unemployment benefits.

The Home Care Association said the estimated number of staffers who could be forced out of their jobs is several times higher than the survey results found, given only a portion of the agencies were sampled,

Al Cardillo, president of the Home Care Association, said the survey indicates that those who have remain unvaccinated include 894 nurses, each of whom is typically responsible for planning care for 20 or more patients. Should they lose their positions, it would have major impacts on nearly 18,000 patients, though that again is likely a fraction of the full impact given the limited sample in the survey, he said."

Like I said, I got vaccinated because of my choice...but I 100% support people who don't want to do that and it's definitely a violation of your personal freedom to be forced to be vaccinated. that's bull sh*t.

I think if you already had covid you should be able to prove immunity by an antibody test.
