I suppose this is the danger of essentially bribing people to get the shot. I hope that that guy is ok but thats a very dangerous thing to do for just 1000 dollars worth of gift cards.
I agree. It is also kind of crass, and IMO unethical, to do so when so many other at-risk people outside this country want to get vaccinated, but can't.

One could also say that the clinics are at fault because they allowed someone to take advantage of the system. He was wrong for what he did but the clinics should have done their due diligence. Hopefully they will now

What would you consider to be sufficient evidence and of what specific mechanism?

The specific mechanism(s) that I would like to see are 1.) the prevention of viral replication at a concentration that can reach the affected tissues that ALSO doesn't poison the host, and maybe 2.) prevention of viral penetration into the host cells (aka neutralizing the spike protein).

Most of the treatments I have seen usually involve a general anti-inflammatory effect, but again, depending on a person's immune system, a tapered dose of steroids would work a lot better. There has been some discussion of looking into flu vaccines that work by activating the killer T-cells (T8 for those you keeping track) to just descend upon and murder any of our unfortunate cells that are making influenza virus proteins, but this has the draw back of potentially causing out of control inflammation (cytokine storms) in many people.

Unfortunately the studies on existing drugs are just starting at universities....no money in them for big pharma.
India has a around a billion more people than the USA and lower death rate, some claims that it because of ivermectin.... but I do wonder if it due to lack of testing
BTW I am vaccinated but think everything should be studied.

Possibly lack of testing, but I DO think a lot of has to do with lack of reporting. For a while Delta-CoVID in India was so bad that the US was sending cargo jets over loaded with oxygen to support people in their homes because the hospitals were so full: https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/cov...regulators-medical-equipment-to-india-2426173

What could the clinics do?
Not much, because technically the person's 'condition' is protected under HIPAA. At absolute MINIMUM, an astute (aka, not tired, not rushed) shot provided could go 'hmmmmm your arm seems a little inflamed, are you not feeling well today?' and then go through the entire rigamarole to explain WHY they didn't give the shot.

Or possibly just be observant like "hey it looks like you have 9 bandaids on the same arm." :gig

Why Is it that they can't they get vaccinated?

This is an absolutely fantastic question, and gets to the PAIN I have felt as a public health civil servant for the past few decades. I am glad you asked this.

A decent chunk of taxpayer dollars are directed to rapid mobilization of manufacturing resources during both global and national medical emergencies. Pfizer, as the first FDA-approved vaccination in the United States, has been required to legally disclose both their ingredients and manufacturing process, so that other companies overseas can begin production of vaccines to help local populations. Moderna, however, due to half-assed (I believe this be more charitable than -INTENTIONAL-) legal and contract agreements drawn up in early 2020, are protected by the corporate veil from releasing manufacturing details. Moderna has gone on the record, multiple times, after receiving -OUR- taxpayer dollars, that they will not serve the greater global good by selling doses at or below cost to countries in need. They would rather have doses go bad and expire. Eff em.

I am going out tonight with a dear friend. She is wheel-chair bound with a lot of autoimmune disorders. Both she and I have had our primary vaccine series and boosters. It is a dear honor to do this for her, since her Ranger hubby of many years finally succumbed from Agent-Orange induced double-hit lymphoma. We have discussed best practices for going out in public with a lot of screaming, aerosolizing friends at the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. She will have a paper mask under her normal cloth mask.

ME? I will have some hella-sweet black n yella Oakley non-fogging prescription bifocal safety glasses in my life. https://safetygearpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/TITMUS-SW06E-yellow.jpeg
