Mostly we're just not eating out. I try to make healthy meals regardless. Low on carbs, lots of fresh vegetables. All the canned and frozen veg were gone and I don't care for them anyway so that's no biggie.
I got lots of frozen and canned with no salt last month. I use the canned for an emergency need just like my canned beans. I'd rather have dry, but if there's no dry on the shelf when I go shopping again I'll need to use the canned no salt beans I have.

My husband has taught me how to stock the pantry before disaster even strikes.

I'm losing weight eating super clean. Tonight I'm going to have baked potatoes with peppers and onions on top with a homemade veggie burger plain.

I'm digging eating like this. I can't get the vegan processed foods because everyone has bought them so I have to eat mostly veggies, beans, and rice.

I have had all these thoughts in the past year, I want a breed that’s good at laying and has a big enough body in a reasonable time to be good for the table...I’d also like them to reproduce naturally, though not necessarily with a broody. The best option for me is I think to go with brahmas. They’re good layers, nice and big and we’ll eat the roos, and by replacing the roo every couple years I think I can keep breeding good birds for years.
Now if all this disease craziness will pass and my chick order will be able to get here (another reason to have my own reproducing flock!)
I decided to breed my own chickens and hatch them when we received 2 black Jersey Giant Cockerels instead of pullets from our source. both of them were vent sexed, but obviously there was a mistake.

I only kept one of them because the other one was human aggressive, but the one that we have is amazing! He is such a good breeder and he even takes care of all the chicks. I can introduce my chicks around 3 weeks old and he will lay with them on the floor and put his wings around them 😍 We call him Papa Squatch now.

I have hatched probably 20ish times since last year and I have butchered only one of the chicks that I hatch from the egg because all of the other ones have sold.

I actually have some that are hatching between today and tomorrow and those will all be meat chicks.

Good morning all. I got up way before the chickens today and had my first "Shopping Hour for Seniors" at the nearby grocery store. I rarely shop there, but since it was 5:45 am when I rolled out of my garage I opted for the closest store. How depressing! I usually do my shopping once a month anyway, but it's been longer than that this time. A lot of staple items were gone like flour and oil. I was able to get some pork and bacon, along with my soy coffee creamer and yogurt. Oh and most importantly, trash bags so I can have my garbage picked up (special bags for my town). One big thing that concerned me was I couldn't detect the aroma of cleaning products. Normally this store reeks of cleanser and my sinuses go into meltdown. It didn't happen today. My next venture out to shop during "senior hours" will definitely not be to that store. The coronavirus cases have risen to over 1100 here and 11 people have died. The number of people over 60 are less than one third of all cases. So it would seem some of you younger folks might be inclined to contract it. I would like to make a statement regarding whether or not the stimulus package would include seniors. Some may think since we are retired we don't need to be included. That is naïve on your part. Yes there are some who retire comfortably and have no worries. Still there are very many seniors whose IRA's are tied up in stocks. They are taking a big hit right now. Also, The very little bit of shopping I have been able to do since this crisis emerged has cost me 2 to 3 times more than normal. This means my meager retirement income has to accomodate these additional costs. But in the meantime, I like many seniors are still paying our bills, keeping our electricity and heat going and paying taxes. That ancient expression "walk a mile in my shoes" is so true.

I am not a fan of pasta, so so about rice and potatoes. I do the same, canned veg and beans just in case but they definitely aren't my first choice!

I grew up with either snow or earthquakes. When the stuff started hitting the fan I grabbed a few cans of veg and some rice and pasta because the grandkids live here. Other than that it was just the normal stuff we needed. Lunch meat for hubs, crackers, milk. I'm not a doomsday prepper, but I keep a full pantry and freezer and have multiple options for cooking in case there's no electricity.

Last night it was Coconut Cream Pie....

Yes, that's exactly what we do. I don't have room to be a prepper in large amount. But our freezers are always full, but not of meat because it's all gone at the stores.

Can't wait until I can butcher more of my meat chickens and ducks because I need to get meat in the freezer and I'll feel better about my freezer situation.

I'm pretty much the same. I try to keep my pantry full. I have some canned items such as vegetables, protein such as fish, chicken, pork and beef, shelf stable milk then all my home canned fruit, jams and vegetables. I also keep TVP and quinoa on hand for shelf stable protein. But there are items that need to be purchased more frequently. Normally when I get ready to open my last container of something like soap or paper products, I replenish right away. That's not working right now.

I take it the store didn't have any cleaning products? I hope you find what you need on the next trip!
My hubs is old enough that we could shop during the senior hours but he works during the hours available.
