Re the toilet paper thing:
Someone told me that 90% of North America’s tp is produced in China for the cheap labor and esp. poor environmental regs, so the run on tp started because trump is/was/will be closing the borders to Chinese imports. Is this true? I’m not sure, but it sounds more likely than other reasons I’ve heard. I do happen to know that only Royale is made in Canada, and I also know that until recently a lot of pulpwood (used to make soft paper products) was shipped offshore....to China presumably.

Good to hear from you , Micro.
Hi my friend. Yes, I've been around. Can't keep up with all the threads so I'm doing the best I can with the time I have as I'm working on my container garden. I have a feeling that 'victory gardens' are going to be back in vogue.

For all you sweet young things out there under the age of 35, look it up and plan your garden. Anything to take the stress off the system and insure your own food supply.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of container gardening. DH is supporting my decision to attempt this new way of doing things and helping me a lot. He doesn't want me to give up things I enjoy doing and I'm trying hard to adapt.

How are you doing?

Or any other excuse one chooses to use for discrimination. Easily done.

This thread has been interesting with some very good input, but I am now unsubscribing.

OK, but just so you know that it's a real health concern and not some xenophobic rant, 70% of TB in the US occurs in immigrants who bring it from their home countries where it is endemic. TB is the #1 infectious killer in the world, so this is a real national security issue.

Well, did it help in the least? No. While you may not find it frightening, others will and do. It is what it is.

Igor, that's the point. You shouldn't be spreading information with the intention of creating fear. Which was done.

These people did their job. That's not scary unless you put the conspiracy theory spin on it. Conspiracy theories aren't helpful. I grew up in a household full of them and all they did was cause terror and hurt our lives. I'm a little disappointed that you can't see how harmful they can be.

At no point should it cause fear for global health organizations to run simulations for common and previously pandemic infectious agents. If it does, and it becomes widespread it will make it harder for these agencies to do their jobs. I want global health organizations planning for pandemics. Don't you?

That's why immigrants disembarked at Ellis Island back in the day of massive immigration: to screen them before they set foot on the mainland for TB and other communicable diseases.
