Went to WalMart yesterday. I was able to get everything on my list including sugar and both fresh and frozen vegetables. There still was no toilet paper and they were all out of flour. The flour I could see, but toilet paper? Why do people hoard toilet paper of all things?

It bothers me that so many people have lost their minds and have gone on sprees. It's not fair or logical to loose your mind and hoard supplies! My aunt bought a TON of hand soap that went on sale the other day and its annoying to see how much of a waste it is in such dire times.

Slings!!! Didn't think of that. How hi do they get?

I skipped the slings pretty quickly. Didn't matter. The ones without slings held on very well on their own. They have very strong stems! Both the pumpkins and the winter squash.

Were you asking how high the vines went? My trellises are about 6' high and 4' wide. I have 2 of them with about 2' of space between them. The vines went up and then grew along the tops. I also put up a 2"x2" support and sent one branch of the vine over the cement block wall to my neighbor's yard so they could get a couple of the pumpkins too.

I would guess there was 20' or so of vine. But it doesn't need to go high. I just wanted it off the ground and out from under foot.

Killing anything in/because of anger is never a good choice; although lately I have considered doing that.

It just occurred to me that we all do choose to be on this thread. Even if someone rambles on off topic sometimes. And in this Covid crisis many of us enjoy the comfort of this thread.
And in this horrible situation I myself feel that we all can be flexible.

My state has seen an increase of over 300% in COVID 19 cases in less than a week. What the actual incidence of the infection may be is anyone's guess since there is next to no testing here. Fully half the people who are infected are asymptomatic which means they can spread it without ever knowing they have it. So far our governor has issued no guidelines that I know of. Any control measures are done at the local level.

Inadequate testing and asymptomatic carriers/shedders is at the crux of the problem. Here in NJ positive cases continue to increase but don't come close to indicating % infected as only those with extreme symptoms (fever/lung issues) and medical, police, firemen/support personnel are being tested.

It's the pits because work closed down and now we have no income. We try to do something 'happy' every day at home. We have 2 Speckled Sussex chicks right now. Hubby made them a little fort for them to play on this morning in about an hour with $2. worth of popsicle sticks!

Wishing you both well. Be strong and I hope that financial relief program for families will do the trick for you!

Oh my Gosh! Thankyou for tips. This is veggies that I plan on growing if we are still stuck in our homes due to the Virus.

@countryladyNH , I love this! He needs to do these as a sideline, maybe not for sale now, but sometime!
Is that a cockerel I see there? SS hens are wonderful, I've always been happy with mine. Not always with the cockerels though...
Mary
LOL, Hi Mary! I told him that!!!
I am Mary too. No cockerels! These are both girls---Elizabeth and Poppy. Our first time with Speckled Sussex. We have 6 Buff Orpington ladies. These 'Littles' are so adorable. I know we will love the SS.
I was kind of hoping someone might see this on our website and want to order a fort, lol!!!

Our stores out in the boonies still pretty well stocked, some missing stuff.
I ran to the county dump today and stopped at a dollar general for a few things saw their toilet paper section no longer bare

I think the " Inadequate testing and asymptomatic carriers/shedders is at the crux of the problem". is right. I hope we find a way and the means to reduce the problem
