There is absolutely no way of knowing what the real numbers are. Testing is spotty at best.

I love your signature!!!

What you say is right. But sometimes it's the only way to measure things. Some people at the top and scientists should use the Words estimate, thought to be, as best we can do or see, possibly or hypothetically, and remind listeners frequently. But many don't want to hear that because people Need to have their info in black and white, all or nothing, safe or not safe etc. And if others like the media and politicians give the public "black or white" , this or that, etc. it's easier to understand. IMO There are millions of people that don't fit into this category.

I go back to chickens and gardening now. :wee:wee:wee

We never never imagined something like this happening
Actually yes, we have imagined this exact thing happening. There even was a office of pandemic response in the white house until 2018 . The scientific community has been warning us for years. I keep hearing that, how could we have known? when the obvious question is could we have not known? I remember when we were worried about the bird flu and the scientist were saying that once it goes from animal to human things will get bad fast and that was 14 years ago. My concern now is people are still not taking it seriously, the Gov of Florida just exempted church services from the stay at home order that was way too late in implementation to begin with.

Well there are yaks in Nepal, people don't kill their yaks in Nepal either. There are yaks in India too, but the places with yaks are close from me in Nepal than in parts of India where they're kept. I really didn't like it, I don't like cow milk either. It makes me sick in my stomach.

Well see! Yak milk needs to be mixed with Bailey's Irish Cream :D

The number of deaths due to coronavirus will pass 50,000 within the "next few days", according to the World Health Organization.

The organisation's director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters on Wednesday evening that the growing number of COVID-19 deaths was "deeply concerning".

He said: "As we enter the fourth month since the start of the pandemic, I'm deeply concerned about the rapid escalation and global spread of infection.

"The number of cases has more than doubled in the past week. In the next few days, we will reach one million confirmed cases and 50,000 deaths."

His words came as the number of confirmed cases worldwide sat at around 911,000 and the number of deaths more than 45,000.

And because that isn't concerning enough:

I’m not going to “bicker” with you. I prefer to use my time and energy to do something more productive. That’s kind of the point!

Everyone has the right to express themselves here, and I think for some, expressing anger and blame is a way of letting off steam and dealing with the stress of this horrible situation. So let 'em. If it makes you uncomfortable, ignore it. You can't change another person's behavior. Their anger is a coping mechanism. It may feel easier or safer than sitting down and having a crying jag, which is what I do once in a while, whether I intend to or not. Fortunately, I was in the car by myself the other day when it happened so I didn't freak out my kids, lol! I'm not scared. I'm sad. I'm so sorry for all the people who are suffering in so many ways right now. I'm sad that our world is so completely changed and I don't know when, or if, it will ever be the same again. I don't care whose fault it is or what could been done different or sooner. And I'm just so damn proud of all the wonderful, brave, selfless people who are doing all they can to care for the sick and the dying and to keep the rest of us fed and provided for. It just all hit me at once. (Yeah, it's that bipolar thing, feeling all the feels at once, and so strong!) So, let everyone deal in their own way. Be kind. Love one another. And we'll get through it. The virus can make us sick, it can kill us, but it can't rob us of what makes us human, unless we let it. So let's don't let it. Okay?

DR gave us a headsup and said our city might make it mandatory for anyone in public to wear a mask and we will peak in 2-3 weeks here. She also said she didnt know where the public could even get masks 😷🤔🤒

Here's a link to Deaconess Hospital's mask page: https://www.deaconess.com/How-to-make-a-Face-Mask It will give you a numbest of options for making masks with just the most rudimentary sewing skills.

I have since learned that it is helpful to make your mask with 2 different sides so you always know which side you want toward your face. I have also learned that you can fold a pipe cleaner in half and zigzag it over one long side to make a moldable area to fit over your nose.

And I iron mine on the hot "linen" setting on my iron as soon as I come back in the house. I iron it on both sides until it's too hot to touch. I have no proof to point to to indicate that that's sufficient sanitizing but I feel confident about it at that heat.

I'm delighted that children aren't targeted by this virus primarily, because that would be worse. I'm also glad that most people don't get very ill. It's nice that maybe 50% aren't sick at all.
However, because of this, response has been insanely slow, and containment not done, so as they say, 'the cat is out of the bag', and many people will die. This is not a good thing!
The numbers are ugly, and I hope that the situation can be better in the future.
Mary
