For clarification, I wasn’t meaning or suggesting a thinning of the herd type thing or even talking about the virus. I was strictly meaning the idiots taking animal meds and all these supposed “cures” :p

OF COURSE NOT! I just thought it was worth passing on the caveat because some folks -- not here, of course -- have gotten squirrelly and quick to the trigger.

I have listened and seen this said by this Florida State official responsible for seeking any equipment that would help America/Florida. I believe him.

I do not believe anything that comes out of a 3M Executive mouth. They are liars and are attempting to pass the buck any way they can including down their chain of employees to save their name. Typical big company trying to make a buck by selling to the highest bidder.

I have not heard anything about the US intercepting a supply boat heading for Germany.
So I need to look at this claim :)

Please remember it's not just America needing PPE. New Zealand is so short of this sort of equipment that midwives are telling women they will have to give birth alone at home with no support, no midwife, because midwives cannot access protective equipment. There are no masks for them, there are no gloves for them. Midwives cannot visit or check on the women they are supposed to be caring for because they lack the equipment to do so.

At the end of January:
3M, another major manufacturer based in Minnesota, also reported an increase in production after a rise in demand from China for respiratory protection products.

This is part of why the US government keeps a face mask stockpile for emergencies.

As The Post's Lena Sun reported, the US government has several secret storage facilities holding drugs and supplies that are part of a $7 billion Strategic National Stockpile ready to be used in the case of a bioterrorism or nuclear attack or an infectious disease outbreak. Nationwide, the repository's medical contents would cover more than 31 football fields if laid out.

So one wouldn’t die if they took it?

Still can’t be very smart or safe though.

I know I wouldn’t want to be the one to experiment with it.

This is why we have scientists, researchers and doctors. Anyone want to try some amateur mechanics before they get in the plane?

I have friends who are pregnant just now. It was an unexpected pregnancy because of gynological complications but very much wanted. And news of it came at Christmas. She's a bit older for a first time mom.

They are fortunate that they have a ranch in a remote spot that they've retired to away from Los Angeles or the Bay Area. But I don't know what plan they'll have for a delivery in these difficult times.

I had my own 3 at home, BTW, but I had midwives and I can't imagine doing it -- especially for the first time -- without knowledgable, skilled assistance! Or with this kind of anxiety.

I've seen his posts a few times, so at least familiar with the name. I swear he was just on 2 or 3 days ago, posting... :(

That's sorta what my daughter says. Some people come in to the hospital and she says she can see by looking at their faces who's going to make it. And then there are people who seem to be doing OK. ...until the moment they're not and then they get slammed with a ton of bricks and their lungs just sort of liquify.

Family birthdays this month, one tomorrow, and no celebrations planned. It makes me very sad, but that's where we are this year. How do you wish a three year old 'Happy Birthday!' on the telephone? We'll manage, and hope next year will be better.

If it's helpful a small kid in my area just had a birthday a week or so ago. Her family and friends decorated their cars with painted windows and balloons and drove by her house honking their horns.

The good thing about really young kids is they don't have the same expectations we have and they're very resilient.
