On a separate subject, I have a question about the closing down of schools. Don't get me wrong, I understand the need for it and support it. It's the logistics that confuse me. The working parents of school children need care for their kids and I get that too. So arrangements have to be made. So ... what? Day care has to be provided? And then these kids are going to be back in crowded environments .... just like schols? So... what's been gained? I'm so baffled. I'm one of the fortunate ones that can stay home with my kidlets, but health-care workers and others that have to show up for work.. God bless you all. And your children. Stay safe out there, y'all. :hugs
Most daycares are closed here. No YMCAs or anything like that are open where I am. Governor changed the gatherings to 50 or more have to be cancelled. I say no one gathers... Stay home unless you're at work. Clean your work environment as well every morning before anyone comes in. That's what my husband's work has been doing.

Good for you, FortCluck! Eggs and butter seem to be what people in this area are looking for too.

Unfortunately, I only have 9 hens so my family pretty much taps out what we can supply.
We get 9-10 eggs a day including duck eggs so we have plenty to share. We have a few pullets that should lay soon as well.

We can't sell chicks or ducklings so most are going to meat. I don't feel like meeting up with people and taking a risk for a few bucks.

Yep. I'm in Ohio too and we're all but locked down.

I'm having people over on Thursday - it's a Holiday - but we're taking precautions. It's only about 10 people, max. We're using a bleach solution on all relevant hard surfaces. We're changing hand towels before guests arrive and then immediately putting them in the wash after they leave. Plates and cups will have labels to prevent cross contamination. No large bowls of anything, only single serving portions. Hand sanitizer will be available to everyone (we have a 70% and a 60%, the good stuff is all but unavailable. The 60% was gotten for us by my sister from a local pet store!). If it's warm enough windows will be open to increase airflow. We have plenty of paper towels and will just have a bleach solution spray bottle for anyone who needs to wipe something down.

After that.... I may be hosting my D&D session the thursday after through skype.

Hope you have a good gathering despite the circumstances.

We have precautions at our house where no one comes here besides us. I can't risk my health at this point. My husband showers and throws his clothes in the washer instantly when he comes home.

We had a speech of our President. He explained the strategie of control The Netherlands is following now. And he explained why 2 scenarios are not okay to follow.

If you don't control with closing down social life, gatherings, schools, and festivities the number of sick people go sky high within a short time. Health care can’t give proper care anymore and many people would die.

If you go for a total lock down the infestations stops. But as soon as the lock down stops, the virus will start spreading again. So this is a very expensive solution that will not work in the end.

Controlled spreading will slowly increase the number of people Infected with covid19 . Health care /IC should be possible for all the sick people at all time. The people who get better become a buffer for the community. The government looks from day to day if the sanity and gathering rules and sufficient for now. And when we are over the top of the infestations, live and work can get back to normal again (slowly).
