You know with all the stay home orders and wearing masks which are uncomfortable and the store issues and everything associated with this virus if you could walk down a covid wing in a hospital people would see why. Its absolutely horrible and I've seen alot of bad stuff but to break down at the end of the day is something I never did. I'll never forget the word COVID with a circle with a plus sign in it for positive. All the patients on vents. Staff writing stuff on the windows of the room I guess so no one has to look at charts. All the medical personnel in layers of clothes all you can see are their eyes and you can see they are spent. Just all the donning and doffing of ppe is a job in itself. My personal experience is street clothes then scrubs then what's called a bunny suit then a yellow splash gown/ apron, mask gloves and bonnet. And I wasn't having any patient contact for that add goggles and a face shield. The medical personnel had food delivered to the floor (sandwiches) so they didnt have to leave the floor. It's so terrible but that's not what we regular folk see all we see is people bitching cause they cant have a party.
Sorry it's been a rough week
My mom has had a hard long two months because of this virus. She is running several rehabilitation homes that have seen this virus creep in the doors. She's seen patients who used to laugh and smile die. She has to put her game face on every day at work, but at home she's an emotional wreck. When she's not at work she's getting phone calls all night long.

Think the worse part for her is the family members who are not understanding of why they have to refuse visitors. Some get quite violent or call threatening bodily harm to workers.

I didn't even want to tell her my news because now she has to stress about it.

I just want this to all end... For everyone

The surge is starting here in Massachusetts and I just refuse to go anywhere. I was able to order some over priced TP on Amazon but at least I know I’ll have some when my current stock is depleted. I have enough of everything else to hold me over until things get a little better. The last two days have been a little rough because the weather was too bad to spend any time outside. It’s really hard to see how this pandemic nightmare will ever go away. But I know things will look better tomorrow. Good thing I have a good supply of bacon. 🙂

I'm so happy you have your bacon too! :thumbsup

Oh wow that sounds so sad!! :(

And honestly I’m sorry about before and everything too. That sounds really rough. :( hugs

I don’t realize you worked in the medical field?

Tough job.

Honestly though you’re right that there is a very real reason why the masks and stay at home orders and stuff are necessary and I really honestly don’t mind not going out, been at home a few weeks until today, and never been a partier or anything so honestly if it helps, I’ll stay home.

I honestly don’t even mind the mask that much cause it is nothing compared to the people who have to wear it all day I’m sure. At least I can choose to take it off at anytime.

I do wish concerts would start up again, that’s the only thing I miss even though I don’t go to many anyway, but I know it’s for everybody’s own well being and big crowds are not what anybody needs right now.

My surgery team. Someone tested positive in the surgery team that did my surgery. There are only 17 staff who have it. Of course one was close to me.

Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed!!

Wondering something........

If I wear a mask and my germs are kept to myself does it not also stand to reason that at least SOME germs are kept out.......
Someone posted an article I think within the last 50 pages about a study done on different materials that people are using to make masks with. Hepa filters, coffee filters, different kinds of fabric and whatnot. Some materials are indeed showing a significant reduction of particles that are virus size and have some benefits for the wearer. Sorry, I didn't bookmark the article.

I have not caught up on all of the posts, but let me tell you about my day in the life of a health care worker.....

I went to work this morning and found out our hospital has been hacked, they are asking for a ransome in order to get our computers back! Are you friggin kidding me!!!
Then I go to get my husband's meds and find out they only have 3 of the blood pressure pills he needs. They are on back order as are any of the comparable ones. His blood pressure is high even on these pills, so what's going to happen when he doesn't have them???

Let's not stop there, we got an acute patient this morning, which means we have admitted them for observation. Well we feed them both breakfast and lunch on normal trays and then find out they are a potential covid patient!!!! WTH!!! If we would have known that everything would have been sent down on paper.

The last day of 2019 said "hold my beer." "Watch this 2020!". I'm not holding it's beer anymore, I'm drinking it all!
Oh no. Hugs for you. (I think I still have arms after attempting to hug sdm111)

:hugs

One of the residents in my mom's assisted living facility has tested positive for the virus. 😟 I just received and e-mail and a call.

All the staff has been wearing cloth masks made by volunteers, for a couple of weeks now, but one employee did test positive not long ago.

Mom is 93. Luckily she is on the first floor and I can still visit her through her window. The virus is very bad in my county. We now have some 15 minute test.

I would have thought out in Suffolk there wouldn't be so bad. Then there's the tourists starting the end of may. I had my hotel reservation at a hotel in Riverhead to go to the Polish Festival and it may not happen (mid August) Just makes me sad. My only little vacation every year. :( I know there's plenty of stuff to do (for me) , Good gosh! I just want to have my week on the east end (surrounding Riverhead) . I can still antique. my BFF is there. My little sister lives in Medford. Breakfast specials, NY bagels, and a ton of fresh seafood. You can't get this here , but we try to make our own. :hitI could just go on...…….
