With sugar, I cut down from 6 spoons to one . After a short while, one is enough and any more is like "too" sweet.

My favorite diet and the only one that works for me is calorie counting. This way I can eat whatever I want. Eventually it gets to where you can guess the calories. It also makes you aware of what you are eating. Like when I get the munchy hunger pangs at night I can reach for a Pregresso soup and the can is usually 150 calories -350 calories for the whole can. And soup makes you feel full. I never count fruit and veggies in my calorie count. Or broiled or baked fish. I can still have ice cream but it sure eats up my daily allowance of calories.
Fruit has a lot of calories and sugar. Those calories do add up.

Easy mask with detailed instructions, and video close ups, for those who are less than confident in their sewing skills. *cough* @Kiki *cough*

Thanks for that link. I really like how she cut the corners of the rectangle to shape the portion over the face. I'm definitely borrowing that!

@FortCluck :fl .

NJ as of yesterday : 54,588 positive cases, 1,932 deaths, 293 cases in my county, 7 deaths in my county.

For tomorrow our daughter is setting up a family 'Zoom' Easter. Hope that the Princess and I can figure out how to access. :p Everyone have the best Easter possible.
Go to zoom.com, click 'join a meeting' and enter the meeting code she gives you. Easy peasy.

Just a side note on the whole diabetes / sugar thing. A couple of you mentioned other factors, the truth is sugar is a carbohydrate. There are other sources of carbohydrates such as bread, rice and potatoes. Oh, and milk has natural sugars in it as well. Switching to a sugar substitute is not a quick fix. I've been pre-diabetic for years and finally crossed over the threshold to diabetes recently. It's no laughing matter and should be taken seriously. If left untreated the ramifications are serious. And believing that you can just take a pill to make it all better, well, then there are the side effects you have to deal with. The younger you are the better your chances of reversing the pre-diabetes, so take charge of that now. I think dealing with the current pandemic is enough drama in anyone's life without adding to it. And yes @MissFrizzletheChick, the numbers in Massachusetts are going up quite a bit now. The numbers from yesterday are 20974 cases, and 599 deaths. So far there have only been 3 deaths out of 1678 cases in my county. We have to wear masks when going out in public now, which I don't plan on going anywhere for a while. Scary stuff. I'm just happy that I have a big yard to stretch my legs and get out of the house (now that it finally stopped raining).
:hugs for you!! And yes, I think cutting carbs or at least simple carbs is important too. And I eat lots of both those and sugar so if I get rid of those that’s basically my whole diet

But I’m having a huge garden this year with tons and tons of stuff so I’ll be eating tons of good stuff very soon hopefully. In the meantime, we’ve been buying vegetables.

On the diabetes thing ….. I suddenly "got" diabetes after a serious fall at work, over 10 years ago. Doctors aren't sure if they are related, but I believe they are, as NO ONE ELSE in my family has, or had diabetes ….. EVER !!! This is a topic for another time though .....

I was on insulin for awhile, but eventually said NO, I'm not gonna take these shots anymore ! Tried low carb, but that wasn't cuttin it, so I QUIT sugar cold turkey, and seriously restricted carbs, and did the keto thing for almost a full year. I stayed under 20 carbs per day, and many days less than that.

It was horrible, and it was the hardest thing I've ever done, I was a crabby a$$hole for quite some time, (still am !) BUT, I went from 265 pounds to 195 pounds, and went from size 46 pants to size 38 ! This transformation took me about a year.

More importantly, I went from insulin shots, and 3 oral diabetes meds a day, to ONE maintenance pill a day !!! My A1C is waaaayyyy down from the 8s, and 9s, to the 6s, my BP is down, and despite eating basically only meat, eggs, and cheese, my cholesterol is on a downward trend, which pleases my heart doctor to no end !

I feel better than I have in MANY years !!!

The only downside to this story is, I had to buy all new clothes !!!!

Diabetes is not to be trifled with, and the more you do NOW to prevent, or lessen it's effects, the better you will be in the long run.
This is amazing. :love

I know the feeling of the clothes thing. When I lost weight last year suddenly all my shorts and stuff were way too big. :lau
