Glad I don't live in Michigan. They are not allowed to buy seeds or plants in stores that are open :hmm

After NY and NJ, Michigan has the highest number of Covid cases. They're also very high in the death/M category. The Governor is probably doing the best she can when the federal government has singled her -- and the citizens of her state -- for personal abuse and a refusal of support.

I would imagine she's continuing to let those stores be open for essential needs but trying to make it unproductive for people to be out shopping for non-essentials.

Personally, I'm glad I'm not in her shoes trying to deal with the pandemic and the consequences of it.

Why ban the sales of seeds though? To many, that makes it look like they don’t want people to grow their own food. I’m not saying that’s the reasoning or that I personally think that way but have seen several who do and I can see why. It is odd. Why have the store open but ban sales of certain items? So people put money into the economy at the grocery store? I would like to hear the full story & reasoning but probably never will.

I think it is to prevent browsing....many times I have to look to see how long til harvest, yield size, space needs etc. To many hands touching packets.

I would like to see my daughters again and a few dear friends. This means international travel and as soon as this is possible and affordable again that is what I ma going to do.
I would like on those occasions when I go into the local village for supplies to sit outside one of the many Cafe/bars with a strong black coffee in front of me and a Cuban cigar in my mouth and chat to those who come by that I know.
I am not going to let the media and the hysteria turn me into even more of a hermit than I already am. I will of course take reasonable precautions as I would for anything that involves high health risk but reading here and on various other forums, I am not going to let this crisis turn me into a frightened old man who no longer feels able to mix with his own species.
I fear for the mental health of many who it seems have let this crisis paralyze their reason.

That's the paradox we face as we approach our final years, isn't it Shadrach? We recognize and accept the finality of it all. We just want a quality of life and the precious moments and contacts that make enduring the limitations of our bodies worthwhile.

My husband's health is fragile. Would be without Covid. His family all died young of cardiac issues. Thanks to modern medicine and many interventions he's lived longer than any of them and decades more than some. When he wants to eat something he probably shouldn't, I keep my mouth shut. I wouldn't deprive him of a single pleasure. He's an adult. He knows what he's doing. I accept the inevitable.

I know you'll weigh all the factors involved for yourself and others. I wish you happiness.

personally........i think we all should avoid talking about all this mess and talk about CHICKENS and ducks and geese and feathered friends!!

There is an ENTIRE website to do that. It's called Backyard Chickens. I'm sure you're familiar with it.

This is a single thread where we are talking about our concerns, what we've learned, how we're coping and what pops up.
