Maybe there is something in the idea that a fast burn through the population might be the better option.

If you've got a hospital system that can cope with a fast burn you're a lucky person. In Europe you have national health and actual public health systems.

Her in the US we don't. NYC certainly hasn't. Their facilities are totally overwhelmed by the onslaught of cases. And many rural areas in the US don't even have hospitals anymore. They rely on distant hospitals in larger communities.

And our public health program is limited to an underfunded and understaffed CDC which is subject to pressure from someone who wants the public to believe he's got the pandemic in hand and doles out resources by political favor.

We may have a version of fast burn but it certainly isn't working for us here.

@featherhead007 is your job as exciting as they make it look on TV?? Got any exciting (or boring) stories you can tell me as a bedtime story? :lau 💤😴
Wow featherhead was on TV. That's so cool . If you don't mind me asking, How Did you know ?

I had planted some baby daylilies and 3 bare root raspberries. What I also did is go in the woods and scrape up a few buckets of sortof aged horse manure and mixed it in and it's great!!! Looks like the stuff I would have expected. So the compost I'll be getting will fix it.

I have to say that the guy over at the dirt and rock place told me he mixed it that morning but he couldn't remember the %'s in the mix. The unmixed soil was right next to it and you could barely tell the difference . I had to ask him which one was the mixed one. I'll bet he skimped on the compost . If he can't recite the percentages......

I think when I get the compost tomorrow I will still fill the box 1/2 full or a bit more of the "garden mix" and use the compost soil mix for the top 3 inches.
People don't know how to run a business. Sounds good what you mixed in we'll have to wait and see how well the plants do.
I was having a discussion with my daughter on this issue this morning.
I fall into the high risk category. Even with adequate health care my chances would not be good if I caught the virus.
I am fortunate in that I'm not a social creature by nature and have been social distancing for the past decade.
But, there are many people with a similar risk factor who are either not so antisocial and who are not fortunate in their living circumstances.
So, what about those people who live in cities and whose retirement life revolves around a close social circle and enjoying the facilities city life can offer?
Are they left with cowering in a small city flat too scared to go out for fear of catching the virus?
One of my friends in such a position wrote to me saying as soon as it was within the law to socialize that is what he would be doing. His view is he didn't work all his life and reach retirement to spend the remainder of his years cowering in a flat on his own while the virus went about it's business.
Bear in mind that even with a vaccine and there is no certainty there will be one, the virus will still be out there. It isn't going to just go away. An effective vaccine may reduce the worst of the effects of the virus but it won't stop people catching it, nor will it stop those who do become infected passing it on to others and some of those others will be in the vulnerable health class.
It seems to get forgotten that when one is born into this world there is no guarantee of survival and human kind like every other creature must take it's chances.
We take chances every day of our lives and think little of it. 40,000 people died from road traffic accidents in the USA last year but we still get in our cars and drive.
Heart disease kills hundreds of thousands and is particualry prevelant in the USA. Does this stop people have that fatty meat based brunch?
WE If We can't stop it then you have to push through it. We wouldn't be where we are today if we didn't take chances . Think about the colonial times . We wouldn't have our country if it wasn't for their hard work. Or the wars that were fought.

Well, not featherhead specifically (that I know of) but if I remember correctly he is or was a Marshal? And I know they sometimes portray/feature those on TV shows (although not as often) so I wondered how accurate it was. Probably not very 😂 anyway, sorry, I should have been more clear. My bad.
