I agree! One is never enough. You end up with all the colors, markings, disciplines, then there are the breeds! So hard to choose! They aren't cheap but I spent my life busting my butt to afford to keep them. I will never be horseless.

Literally any day now, this mare bags up early so it’s a bit harder to tell, plus I made a mistake on the calendar last year when they bred so I wasn’t 100% sure. Her last one was a red bag delivery and died, we missed him by only a few minutes and it was heartbreaking so this time around as soon as she waxes I’ll be sleeping in the barn with her.
We breed Norwegian fjords, we’ve got three mares and a stud, i couldn’t ask for better horses - my stallion is no khemosabi, but I love him to pieces!

Yeah it was a lot of food talk.
Kinda hard to find other things to chat about right now. My gardens are covered in snow, no jobs, sewing is all about masks, chickens and ducks....they are just plugging along avoiding freezing, cannot go for a motorcycle ride, cleaning is getting both old and harder with running out of cleaners.

Sorry about the food craze.

Oh , no worries. Food is fine. I was just a little cross eyed from so much of it.

Back on my other farm things would just be starting to unthaw and I'd be in that mode where I wanted to start the garden so bad but dared not because my starts would freeze or get snowed on. Veggie starts getting leggy in the house. Still too early to start spring cleaning in the barns, nothing really blooming yet but Robins start appearing....end of March/first half of April were always stir crazy times, not including coronavirus.
Spring comes sooner here for me but I pay for it in July when we all melt.

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB /KRBC) – The Cloud 9 strip club is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic by selling hygiene supplies and face masks from their Abilene location.
Cloud 9 President and CEO Paul W. Hanneman says that although the strip club/nightclub portion of the business on E Hwy 80 is closed under order of Governor Greg Abbott and the City of Abilene, the retail portion remains open for business.
All sexually oriented items have been removed, and now the store is focused on selling hygiene items like toilet paper and hand sanitizer, as well as fashion face masks.
Cloud 9’s retail store is open from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Hanneman’s full statement on Cloud 9’s retail ventures can be found below:

"Cloud Nine Cabaret, along with Cloud Nine Retail, have been serving the Abilene Community for over 20 years.
During these 20 plus years we have worked closely with Law Enforcement and City of Abilene officials to provide lawful entertainment and products.
During this State of Emergency we will, of course, continue to respect all applicable City of Abilene laws, as well as County, State and National laws.
Our nightclub is closed until the law and authorities say we may do otherwise. The Cloud Nine Retail Store is open but we have disposed of all sexually oriented materials and are now providing several lines of clothing and hygiene items, including designer facemasks and essential products.
We are determined that we can get through this together and we pray that the Lord will see us through."

I'm so sorry to hear about your last baby. We lost one when I was a teenager. The filly was so large the mare couldn't pass her. The filly died before the vet got there. We had to transport the mare to the hospital, they had to surgically remove the baby. The poor mare had a stroke during surgery, she was so torn up inside she would never carry another foal. She was such a good mom, it was so sad. The next foaling season she bagged up and would start waxing when the other mares were due. She produced milk, adopted more than one baby every year. She was an amazing mare, heart of gold!
Has your mare begun to get mushy in the hindquarters yet? I always slept in the barn waiting for babies, this was of course back before the fancy breeding barns with cameras in the stalls! The filly we lost I have always felt guilty about. I had been sick so my parents didn't want me sleeping in the barn. I know in my head my being there wouldn't have changed the outcome, I think the poor mare wouldn't have suffered as much.
I love Fjords! Always wanted one, but haven't had one...yet! I can't wait to see your new addition! I shall require photos!
I show papered horses because that is where the $$$ is to support my herd lol I have owned so many grade horses that are just as nice. In some cases, they are even nicer than the overbred papered horses. Humans tend to screw up breeds trying to perfect them. I am in no way a breed snob!

I told y'all I would let you know what the phone doctors thing was going to cost......$90.
Hubs told them to cram it. They told him it was the same visit he would have gotten in the office. I doubt that. First they cannot check weight, blood pressure, or temp over the phone. Considering his meds are for blood pressure it is THE only reason he would have been going in anyway.
This is the same doctors office that FAILED to tell him he was a raging diabetic for over 4 years. Yes bloodwork was showing his fasting glucose at over 500 for more than 4 years and they said NOTHING.

Now to see if they hold his prescriptions hostage.
