I think I got lost in the food again, but meant to say that's wonderful news on the test being negative. :)

What kind of chicks have you been selling?
Just barnyard mix... Jersey giant cross with Delaware, Cochin, and Rhode island red.

I'm hatching deathlayer crosses now. They hatch this week along with some quail (snowy, pearl, and tuxedo)

How's your side of VA?

It's rainy and blah here today. We are having a bday celebration for every birthday from January till now in our family because we haven't been able to celebrate. Either I've been hospitalized or quarantined 🙈

Wet here too. Hopefully we are pasts the frosts though, upper 20s this past week had me putting off planting some things and I'm getting ancey about it. My potatoes were up but frosted back to the ground. Garlic is fine and lettuce, spinach, kale, and broccoli up on the porch were ok with frost covers.

I did something I thought I'd never ever do...I specifically ordered some roos. :th
(along with some other chicks) Am thinking I can play with some size because while my Aussie roo is still being nice, and he looks gorgeous, I find him to be a bit scrawny and maybe not the right roo going forward for being more self sustainable.
Really, I think the stir crazies got me. I ordered the pencils too. :D

Happy Birthday, Belated Birthday, and Celebrations all rolled into one!

It certainly does! Except the creepers next door. They like to hide behind things on their property and watch to see what we are doing now. They don't hide well so I always wave at them. They always freak out and act like they were doing something. 🙄
Wow that's so funny! What creeps!
Use common sense which I know you have plenty of. Wear a mask, don't touch your FACE!!!, and wash your hands. I have hand gel in the car. Okay sometimes I have Lysol basin, tub, and toilet cleaner wipes, LOL. . Don't let people breathe on you. Maybe change your clothes when you get home if there has been someone closer than 6 feet.

I worked with MRSA, pneumonia, rotovirus and whatknot in a Neonatal ICU for ALMOST 20 years' Out of 50 babies, there may have been 0 to 25% in isolation at one time. We knew if we needed gloves and a mask or gown gloves and a mask. It could be isolation or reverse isolation. Most times a whole room of about 8 being isolated. Most was Preemies (down to 2 pounds) up to full term. Nurses were assigned to only those rooms and may have more than one patient

So you really had to know what equipment was shared, etc. However in all those years we were Trusted to uphold the precautions without being over supervised -it was our job. And also teach visiting parents about not contaminating themselves and they were not medical people, just normal people like us.

So it makes me mad when these stupid government people (namely governors) Make us do stupid things that make no sense or do nothing, and get ticketed for actually living by the appropriate rules and stupid nonsensical rules because they consider most of us too ignorant to learn that for ourselves. You really got to think "am I too ignorant to see right from wrong contact with others"? Why are some being punished for having that knowledge by staying in their cars for a sermon. ON EASTER! It's not right to punish people for having intelligence. Like a man with a daughter playing catch in a park alone. (making an intelligent person look ignorant or like a criminal in front of their little boy or girl)?

I really do get tears from hearing these things. I am so determined to see people not being punished unfairly no matter what. Your Governors needs to know that there is Mutiny on the bounty, or the French Revolution Or ours! or their is a line they cannot cross and a civil right they can not break. 4th amendment about religion. I know I get long winded but I am furious about some things! I'm sure they don't want a war on their hands against people who have crossed the line or denied us amended 4 civil liberties .

"wearing pants" is their stupidity, not ours. Sermons in a parking lot with everyone staying in their cars is their stupidity, not ours.
True true. They are trying to get away with as much as they can. I'm standing for my rights here. If this keeps up something s going to happen. my friend says she thinks this is going to start another great depression. she doesn't know what she's talking about... I hope:oops:

They are going to protest at our state house soon, for opening the business back up.
Apparently, the issue isn't "shorts," it's people walking outside in their undies to get their mail ... and embarrassing the carriers. My best friend is a mail carrier ... and she does NOT embarrass easily. I shudder to think of what she's encountered that makes her defend this particular ruling ...

OH! Well that makes more sense:gig

Interesting how things can get mixed up like the game telephone.
I thought this was virus related

I feel bad for the poor mail carriers!
One more this is the same chicken as the splash from earlier

nice bird! Game fowl of some sort.?

I don’t know much about the breed admittedly but I feel like both are wrong and the crazy always hyped up one is just as wrong as the lazy no drive one.

Curious which ones you think are the good ones?

Can PM it if you’d prefer ha
I'm really curious now, witch one is better in your opinion?
EXCITED!!! We had a family pow-wow, last night to decide how we can do more to help out while under lock-down. Tomorrow, we're going to the SPCA to pick up a pair of feral kitties. DS is a feral cat wizard and these two are very young (10 & 19 months,) so there's an excellent chance of gentling them enough to make them good house pets. One's a blue tuxedo, the other is all black - and they're both long-haired beauties. I think we can count on one staying here furever, but socializing will give her little brother a much better chance at finding a good home. And if that doesn't happen, well, he can stay, too!
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
That sounds fun! Feral cats are appreciated around my place, The ones around here are very different from your average cat ,more resilient and bigger. If I'm quiet enough I can watch them go about their daily business in the barn. One Tom cat is top cat. When the other cats catch something if he wants it they let him take it but it's never the other way around. Some cats have thought outside the box and never bring their food inside the barn where the big Tom cat can see them. It's pretty funny watching their behavior.

Polish, LF cochin, bantam mottled cochins, Mille Fleur D'uccles.
Milles and Polish are on my wish list once I get my place more set up how I want. I've wanted them for quite a while now but my previous farm did not lend itself to anything besides hardy birds that could easily live in a typical barnyard setting, even in -20F, and provide eggs for consumption and selling.
Mud is an issue here too. Sticky red cement everywhere so for now I'm staying with clean legged birds, much as I love fuzzy feet.

Yeah basically it's a bday and we aren't infected party 😁

I am going stir crazy too. I've never hatched so much in my life. At least I'm selling them though or using them for meat or new layers.

I can't wait to see your new birds.

My Deathlayers have been the best decision and getting rid of Squatch. I loved Squatch but our flock looks so much better only after a full week. Their feathers are coming back in and they're not mating as constant or too big for the girls.

I have Deathlayer cross chicks hatching this week 😁 can't wait to see them. I'll keep some of the pullets and grow the roos for meat.

Your descriptions of Squatch helped push me towards adding JG- 2 roos and 2 hens into the order. I love love love Speckled Sussex hens and their broodiness is awesome, but the roos are generally not nice so I thought I'd try something I'd not had before. Even if I eventually find the roos to be too big, I figure the hens will be a great addition.
They won't be here until early June though, hatcheries are booked way out right now.

Tell me about Deathlayers...what attracted you to them? I know nothing about the breed.
And "We Ain't Infected" is a great reason for a party if you ask me.
