Yeah, I just have a real shallow little bowl right now but I’m gonna get them a different waterer they can’t stand in or put something in this one. Or maybe I’ll just raise it. That’s a good idea. They seem okay so far though but they need a real waterer anyway so I’ll do this. And yeah, 5 of them do.
I put a guinea pig/rabbit water bottle in the brooder and all of the chicks seem to prefer it to the shallow bowl. Pretty neat ... both in "coolness" and cleanliness!

That’s a good idea!! I think I have one of those lying around somewhere haha I’ve done the vertical nipples before but those leaked everywhere and they’re too weak for the horizontal ones right now but a rabbit water bottle might just be the trick!!

I will take big snow or little snow. As long as I don't have to go to work. It's okay. I lived on LI NY for 23 years and I loved the blizzards . Florida didn't have any :( . Now I'm in southern Indiana 20 minutes from Louisville KY and we get some days , not a lot that stay 19-20 for a few days but never get anymore than 2 inches.
I don't know on the map storms go either north of us or south of us. :( Shoot, if I'm going to have cold weather, I want snow. I'm retired. I have a lot of time to enjoy it.
I'm the same way! Here in Maryland, we don't get the big snows we used to ... I guess there's too much development, now. That does affect the weather patterns. Still, I miss it! I tell my kids that, if we're gonna get snow, I want REAL snow. Not this wannabe weather where you still have to go to work or go to school or go anywhere else/ I want to look out my window, and without turning on the radio or getting a robo-call, know that we won't be going anywhere today. Gimme three feet - drifts or straight snowfall, I don't care - or don't bother!

Most of 'em, anyway. When we had Silkies, they got really confused moving from the water bottle in the brooder to a waterer in the run ... not the brightest crayons in the box!
I'm gonna get killed for this, but here goes: Silkies are like blonde women, they don't have to be smart, only pretty!

They can airlift food all over the world. Food? It's very very sad that we can't put our overedges to good use. I've seen some selling their veggies car side . (6 feet and mask). Milk can be made into cheese which stores well. Vegetables and milk are super duper absolutely positively essential for health.
The problem with making excess milk into cheese is that it happens in a totally different plant in a totally different area. By the time it can get redirected, it's beyond the safe handling dates for raw milk. The American Dairy Association is working on the bigger-picture distribution system. If you have local shortages, let them know and they'll add the area to their plans.
This all comes directly from my sister - a Maryland dairy farmer. She hasn't had to dump, yet, but that's because they already redirect a lot of their milk into local cheese making (Chesapeake Gold Farms ... Awesome Stuff!) They are lucky to have that alternative plan already in place. Not all farmers are set up for that, yet ... but many are working on it!
I can't get the FB link to load, but there's a great video from Cow Comfort Inn Dairy, in Maryland, about milk dumping and the supply chain. It explains a lot.
