I wonder how much he sold.
That's the perfect allegory for our current healthcare system. Except toilet paper is not as essential as medicine.

I don’t know if that’s the case here; I did pay more attention during the last election when the candidates were talking about pharmacare and dental and it was actually pretty interesting- after crunching the numbers for things like routine dental checkups or medications for chronic illness, if people are provided with these things there are less downstream costs because problems get caught early or don’t happen. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!I've lived in Vancouver. Both my husband with multiple cardiac issues and I with my chronic asthma have used BC health many times. My son who spent 10th grade in Vancouver lined up with the rest of his grade to get routine immunization.
I agree that you have an EXCELLENT healthcare system. Unfortunately, Americans have no idea and probably never will because they're so blinded by the we've-got-the-best-health-care-in-the-word mantra.
As Rooapalooza says, it's a fine health care system if you've got the cash and the premium insurance. It's barely adequate to adownright nightmare if you don't. And it's certainly not up to dealing with this health emergency that's about to hit us.
One thing that I think ensures great health care for Canadians is the assurance that your elected officials have Exactly. The. Same. Care. As. Every. Other. Canadian. Our elected officials would take much better care of us if they had to deal with the same conditions the rest of us do.
You are right. I have a step brother who lives in Canada. He had a brain aneurism (sp) and he received excellent care. On the other hand, a year or so ago a man here in Missouri was bitten by a poisonous snake. He called around to various hospitals to find out how much treatment would cost. It was in six figures. He decided to forego treatment rather than bankrupt his family. While the state would have paid for his treatment, when he died the state would have taken his farm and property. He wanted what he had to go to his family, not the state, so he stayed home and died.
That’s...that’s...I mean, I wouldn’t even let that happen to my pet! I can’t imagine a man and his family facing that decision.OMG! It's horrible even to read such a thing. I can't imagine what it was like for his family or for him suffering needlessly.
I live in a county where I swear I'm the only veganso I fill my cart while everyone else complains there's no frozen pizza or boxed Mac and cheese.
I love coconut milk with my lotus foods ramen noodles, it's the best. Weird thing is... I won't eat coconut I don't like the flavor but the milk is yummy.

I add veggies, herb, and salt free seasoning usually Mrs dash then a dash of lemon juice or lime.I like lotus foods ramen too. I've never tried it with coconut milk, that sounds delicious! Usually I chop up a bunch of extra veggies, whatever I have lying around, and kind of stir fry it all together. It makes me feel better than just eating ramen. I'll try it creamy next time!
Soooo....does this work for all beans? I did dried beans only once and I got so sick! It was kidney beans and I did soak them put them in chilli; they never fully softened, I had a stomachache and....other problems laterWho needed to know about cooking beans?
This is the easiest method I know. I've used it for all sorts of beans and I never bother to soak anymore. I just oven roast them and if it takes a long time, I just check the water occasionally and make sure it doesn't evaporate.
